Question XEDE vs. UTEC

Does anyone have an opinion on the new XEDE as compared to the unanimous favorite UTEC. I ask because it's $200 cheaper but is it just as good? Many thanks in advance.

Well since the XEDE is not out as of yet(other then beta testers), there is no comparison other then comparing websites.

actually...I got the first production unit. Shiv did an great job - thanks. I haven't heard any knocking yet and the car pulls great. Even did some tall gear runs up a hill under full boost. I'll post some logs(DD and XEDE) when I get the software.

It's not $200 cheaper. It's $55 cheaper.

Xede w/ tuning capabilities = $795 hardware + $100 software = $895

UTEC = $950

Whoa, well that's different. I must have missed that. It sounds like UTEC is still the way to go for now considering its proven and has been out for awhile so it can even be found for less, or used, etc... Thanks jblaine - krautdog

If you audibly hear knocking, it's way too late.

Where did you get your pricing info? (not a flame, just a question)

Edit: answered my own question... duh http://www.vishnutuning.com

Didn't think they had that up there yet.

To compare apples to apples in terms of price, the UTEC is still listed as $999 on http://www.turboxs.com

I'm still on path to get a UTEC myself, its been out on the streets longer with more time in car.

I had a unichip and now a UTEC and I love it! Plus I trust the guys at TXS! I would say it is safe to say they know the most about the WRX! They are way ahead of the game!! Good luck!

Thanks but this confuses me, maybe you can clear it up. This was taken from the website link you supplied.

"Internal storage space for up to 12 tuning maps
Self-configurable load axis, input and output variables, adjustment range, and math function for each map
'Map Select' input to change between one of two unique tuning maps"

What does this mean? Can 12 maps be stored and switched on the fly or is it 2?

sounds like 2 maps, but it also sounds like unique is "build your own map"? either that or specifically tuned for your car or something

but at the very least, I would definately say it's 2 maps
