![]() What I do't understand about products like this that they don't bring here (even just the normal yaris, since apparently we get a different chassis altogether) is how their math works out.
Seems to me that basically ANYTHING offered by a company that is even mildly more practical than a BRZ could sell at least as well as that car... and obviously they see fit to sell that car... so why not bring over everything else?

![]() ![]() We don't know which engine is being used for the GR-4. We'll find out next month. Above is the 2ZR-FE 1.8 which replaced the 1(2)ZZ-FE engine and found in the previous limited edition MY '17 GRMN Yaris that was FWD and had 209 hp. It's not certain whether the AWD setup will require more oomph and a step up to a 2.0 3ZR-FZE with a supercharger or a homologation 1.6 1ZR FE. But given the image above and the images below, using the black plastic cover as a guide, the ZR engines should look similar and the 4 intake plenums on the plastic cover in the bottom image of the actual GR-4 rules out the use of the 'newly developed 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine based on the TNGA design philosophy.' ![]() ![]() |

![]() ZR engine is on life support for building out current gen Prius and being the base Corolla engine. It won’t be a ZR.

![]() Could be an M20 from a Corolla. C-HR uses the 2.0 3ZR engine for our market. If they are using a supercharger like they did previously, a bigger displacement ZR engine would make sense from a development standpoint. An 8AR would be cool, but it doesn't look like one in the image I posted.

If the CHR was used for reference other than what not to do, then I’m out. ![]() Reports I’m seeing are 1.6L like the rally car... which would make sense from a brand building/rally homologation perspective. |

![]() Do they have a replacement 1.6 to the 1ZR? I wouldn't think they'd develop something all new for this. The base car is all hyped up with the new 3 cylinder.

![]() So, under 2900lbs, over 250hp, 1.6T, 3 cyl, 6MT, mechanical front and rear LSD, and driver controlled center diff. Oh yea, aluminum hood, hatch, and doors with a CF roof. Holy ****.

![]() This thing is pretty damn cool. If this makes it here to the States, I will be giving it a hard look. However being a 3 Door model makes it harder with kids.
Been asking someone I know within Toyota about it coming to the States and everyone is being tight lipped about. |

![]() Okay Toyota, want to blow away your stodgy image in the US? This is the car to do it. It looks fun - like what a Fiesta RS could have been. Would take this over the 86 and you can keep your Zupra. They should consider putting this drivetrain into the Corolla hatchback as well.

![]() I have to say, I'm impressed with some little bits about this car. The battery in the trunk reminds me of BMW and the Intercooler water sprayer reminds me of Subaru, but I honestly hope this doesn't arrive as a 3-cylinder. Give us a turbo 4 and this could be a lot of fun to troll WRX owners with.
