Default New Nissan Kicks facelift e-Power with refreshed design leaked - IAB Report

New Nissan Kicks facelift e-Power with refreshed design leaked - IAB Report

The new Nissan Kicks facelift has leaked online ahead of its official unveiling today evening. This 2020 Nissan Kicks e-Power will be launched in Thailand. The 2020 Nissan Kicks that will be launched in India soon won’t have any design changes.

Nissan Kicks Facelift E Power 2020
The 2020 Nissan Kicks looks sportier than the old model.
The 2020 Nissan Kicks has a sportier design, thanks to the refreshed front end. The sleeker headlamps, much bigger radiator grille, sportier bumper and the X-shape formed by the new grille layout give the Nissan Kicks facelift a more aggressive styling. The fog lamps and lower grille are also new.

On the sides, the new Nissan Kicks has new dual-tone alloy wheels. While the leaked picture does not show the rear end, spy media has shown that the updated model features new bumper, much lesser black body cladding and tweaked tail lamps. Whether the new model packs any interior changes is unknown.

The global Nissan Kicks is gaining an e-Power variant with its mid-cycle refresh. Seen here is indeed the Nissan Kicks e-Power, as denoted by the specific branding on the registration plate and the e-Power badge on the driver-side front door.

Like the Nissan Note e-Power, the Nissan Kicks e-Power likely packs the HR12DE 1.2-litre petrol engine (79 PS/103 Nm), the EM57 electric motor (109 PS/254 Nm) and a 1.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery. Should there be a 4WD variant on offer, there’d be an additional electric motor - N2 (4.8 PS/15 Nm). The engine acts as a generator, producing electricity for the electric motor(s), which drive(s) the wheels.

The India-specific Nissan Kicks will be launched with a BS6 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine and BS6 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the coming weeks. Know more about it here.

Hummm... with a new Indian CEO the focus is more Indian market..? Is that why they hired the guy?

I hadn't been following Nissan in a while and didn't know until just recently they hired an Indian guy as their CEO. 50-60year old Japanese folks have no management skills apparently.. no vision, no dream, no konjyo, no umami.

Default Infiniti's New Electric Cars Will Have Something Called I-Power

So in a Nissan it's called E -power, In an Infiniti its call I-Power

Infiniti's New Electric Cars Will Have Something Called I-Power

It looks to be the luxury carmaker's own version of Nissan's E-Power.

After discontinuing the Q50 Hybrid back in 2018, Infiniti no longer has an electrified vehicle in its lineup. This should change soon, though, as the Infiniti brand has expressed interest in introducing a slew of new electric models with range extenders that do not need to be plugged in. Infiniti is expected to borrow Nissan's e-power technology, which will first arrive in the United States in the new Ariya. The e-power name is also used on the Nissan Note in Japan and for the hybrid Kicks sold in other markets.

When luxury automakers borrow technology from their mainstream counterparts, they rarely proceed without a name change. While scouring through the United States Patent and Trademark Office website, we may have come across the name that Infiniti will use on its upcoming electrified vehicles.

Nissan recently filed for the name "I-Power," which is suspiciously close to the name E-Power. The "I" could correspond to the Infiniti brand, helping the luxury automaker differentiate its technology from the mainstream Nissan lineup.

The trademark filing doesn't give any specifics on I-Power but gives a rough idea of what we can expect. Filed on January 5, 2021, it was categorized under Goods and Services, and includes the following description:

"Electric drive unit for land vehicles; bodies for vehicles; automobile chassis; transmissions for land vehicles; steering wheels for automobiles; automobiles and their parts and fittings; automobiles; electric vehicles and their parts and fittings; fuel cell vehicles and their parts and fittings; AC motors and DC motors for land vehicles; mechanical elements for land vehicles; shafts, axles or spindles for land vehicles; bearings for land vehicles; shaft couplings or connectors for land vehicles; axle bearings for land vehicles; power transmissions and gearing for land vehicles; shock absorbers for land vehicles; springs for land vehicles; brakes for land vehicles; driving motors for land vehicles; hybrid system for automobile, trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles, motor buses, recreational vehicles (RV), sports cars, racing cars; electric automobiles; hubs for vehicle wheels; vehicle wheels; propulsion mechanisms for land vehicles."

Nissan may have left the filing vague not to give away its plans for the I-Power name. The Ariya will boast 214 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque in its base guise, with a faster variant offering 388 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Infiniti's new CEO, Peyman Karga, has hinted that his company's new electric models should produce anywhere from 200 to 400 hp, meaning I-Power could be a direct carryover of E-Power, just with a new name.

We still have no clues what Infiniti model will be the first to use I-Power. Our best guess is the next-generation Infiniti QX60, which was recently previewed by the QX60 Monograph Concept.
