I’ve always wondered how he does that. Do you just hook up your laptop to obd2 port with tactrix cable or do you still have to make/install the usb timer and he remotes into your laptop. I’ve done a few I just can’t wrap my head around how he does it.

Default 2015 WRX ECU DEF003 - Recovery Help

Hello to all.
I´m new here and I´m writing this post to see if anyone could help me out trying to recover a 2015 WRX 2.0L DIT ECU that had a bad flash and now seems to be in a "boot loop" mode.

Don´t know if anyone here could help me out...
I´ve tried already ECUFlash, PCMFlash Ori, FlashWrite2 and nothing seems to be able to Re-Flash the original file to this ECU.

Anyone here that might have more inputs on this ECU?
This is a Hitachi DEF003-204 ECU with a SH72543R MCU inside...

Thanks

This ECU was read initially by ECUFlash (good read but no definitions file for it) and PCMFlash.
On both reads the file is the same.
It was then flashed by PCMFlash + Tactrix Open Port with no errors.
After this flash, ECU seems to be in "Boot Loop" and only ID is possible.
Like i wrote, i already tried to flash original file to see if it "comes back to life" but no luck.
For what i have read, other ECUs (older ones) could be unbricked using FDT and some other tools, but dont know if it would be possible to do it with this ECU.
I know there are other tools to read this ECU by Jtag, but i dont have them and they are quite expensive for me at this point.
Thats why i´m trying to find some other options and try to recover this ECU

Anyone still here at 2025? Thanks everyone in this post. I have sucessfully unbrick my 2008 impreza s-gt with an adjustable 555 timer and a FT232 adapter. Its super easy to diy using FT232 adapter. I have set the output of the 555 timer at 135Hz and 50% duty cycle by using a simple multimeter. Feel free to contact if any of you still need the kit.

Any chance you’re still around? I’m trying assemble a board using the FT232 adapter but don’t really know how to put together the timer board. I believe I have all the components needed, I really need help with how to assemble them lol.
