That was a good looking car. Too bad the driver is a complete moron. This time I won't make any cracks about it being an ugly Ru. And I won't say how the parents must be proud of their son for putting his sister in the hospital with a 50/50 chance of walking. I also won't say anything about having to be smart and think when you race, for fear of getting in trouble.
What I will say is that the driver is a stupid stupid boy. If he was smart he wouldn't have been racing with a passenger. I'm not going to say that racing is evil and nobody should do it except on the track. That's a total crock and completely rediculous.

Y out.

It’s been interesting seeing the flames from a position where I could not throw in my $0.02 for a while (problems with my profile settings). Here’s my take on this “Race or not to Race” thing.

When someone doesn’t have a clear grip on what they are trying to say, they end up contradicting themselves. To cover up the mistakes, they sprinkle a little dirt on themselves (admit to some sins) to look honest. The fact of the matter is clear. Racing on a public road is ILLEGAL – read your driver’s guide lately? Just because an officer is not present to enforce the law, it doesn’t make it LEGAL or PERMISSIBLE. Now, the driver’s choice to break or adhere to the rules is a totally different ball of wax.

We all know the CORRECT answer, when it comes to racing. Don’t try to bend the facts with “safety equipment” and “special cases”.

Would you tell your kid to go out there and race, but don’t get caught (or die in a crash)? ...didn't think so.

Why waste your time? Let's talk Scoobies!

Truth be told.

Accidents are not accidents at all. They are avoidable if we use the three C's. Caution. Carefull. Considerate.

(I heard this in a radio ad this morning. )

I don't really think it is right to be bashing on the driver at this point. I don't think the family would appreciate those sort of remarks. I am just thankful that the driver and his sister survived. I think he learned his lesson without a bunch of cynical remarks.

2 of my good friends were killed in two seperate car accidents. I wish they could be alive to learn from their mistakes. (One fell asleep while driving home from college to visit family, the other was killed when a drunk driver hit him and is parents head-on on HW395. He and his mother and father were all killed.)Their names: Ryan Sherman, and Mark Schaffer.

"i was just sayin be careful"

Well, i said it once before, and ill say it again.

Being carful doesnt do any good if you have a peice of equipment with cut springs, and oversized wheels.
Cut springs cause the car to bounce uncontrolably. One small bump over somthing as simple as a center stripe reflector in a corner can cause the car to bounce out of control into an uncatchable slide. Also the soft setup from cutting springs, also promote understeer, as if it wasnt bad enough of a problem in an FF car, it only makes it worse. And im sure 90% of the "street racers" out there, dont have a single clue as to what left foot braking is.
Using a larger diameter wheel increases the weight leverage of the car on the brake pads. Increasing brake fade, and increasing the stopping distance of the car.
Now common sence tells us that ill handling, and long braking distance, and high rates of brake fade are two HUDGE reasons not to drive a car at high speed. Yet unfortunatly most people beleive it improves the performance of their car, and they push even harder. And that will lead to accidents. No ammount of "being carful" can change that.

Thats why im saying we owe it to ourselves as members of the performance import comunity to educate people on the proper modifications of cars for performance reasons. IF you do it for style, take it to a car show, dont bring it to the street drags. Your only going to hurt someone.

A) how do you know he cut his springs?

B) I remember following a "friend" on I-5 doing about 100 mph going to an auto x. We all do it. I did do a little "racing" today with a GSR (I think) on a side road.
