![]() I turn on my comp this morning, and no internet. Its connected via ethernet cable to my wireless router. I'm posting from my laptop which is wirelessly connected, and works fine.
When I go to network connections > Local Area Connections > Support tab. It shows no address, no subnet mask, no gateway. Clicking repair says, "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because "Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection." Cannot proceed. Going into comand prompt ipconfig /renew delivers a similar message. Have tried restarting the cable modem, the router, and the computer, all to no avail. Thoughts, ideas?

![]() I have no idea how to help you, but I will share a funny story.
My homepage is set to OT. So one day, I turn it on, get the dreaded IE "could not connect to server" page. I'm pulling my hair out, powercycling my modem, computer, router, several times each in different order, calling my ISP and all... Turns out OT was down ![]() |

No. Since day 1 I've controlled everything on it. ( I built it myself.) Put virus software, did security updates, and anti-spyware software on, all before I ever had it on the internet. |

I deserve that for thinking my parents could have a wireless network without it breaking, and letting other people fix it when I'm gone. |

![]() Ok, I went to the setup page, (on another computer) everything looks good.
Now I'm thinking, it worked great last night, everyhting else looks good, so it most likely a problem with the computer itself. But as I mentioned hardware looks ok. The other thing i forgot to mention, is I had auto updates to install with shut down last night, so maybe some security update is conflicting with my wireless network. ![]() |
