Default UTEC Closed Loop Boost Gain setting

I was just interested in what other UTEC owners had their closed loop boost gain set to. With may car, stage 4+TMIC, 50 is smooth but slow boost build up. 44 is quick boost build up but the ride is not so smooth. What's everyone else using? I wanted to get a feeling as to how everyone else had set their cars up.

Cheers

Mick

40, No ABC, stock restrictor in place.
UTEC Stage One

Working great so far--spools up fast, and virtually no spiking... I might put the 3/16th connector in and retune my boost map to see if it makes the boost response a little snappier.

Mick,

As long as you are not "spiking" that boost gain is fine but to smooth your off-boost to on-boost transitions try running a lower boost value in your 60,70,80, and 90% throttle positions.

For instance if you were targeting 18 psi at 100%TPS and this required you to use 285 then you may consider running 200 in the 60%, 225 in the 70%, 250 in the 80%, and 275 in the 90% columns.

With the VF30 and the TMI I used 47 but with the FMI I used 44. I like about a .5-1 psi spike.

Stay tuned!

Phil or Nathan:

Do you have a good write up about changing these parameters, like how and why, somewhere. I think this number might be my problem with my map but it's hard to say.

Hi Phil, thanks for your insight. I did not think about having different boost values in the 60 to 90 % load columns. I dyno tuned my first couple of maps and of course everything feels smooth on the dyno, 3rd or 4th gear runs. It's the road tuning where I really want this. This is a great sounding solution and it's easy to implement. I only get a small spike so this should work very well.

Great. This maybe the best of boh worlds. Fast gain and smooth feeling.

Cheers

Mick

The gain is a constant in the boost control system, you basically change it to change the ramp up speed of the boost control. The system may overshoot though if you are using too low of a value (lower=faster and higher=slower). Just play around with the values between say 40-50 and see what works best for you. I run 45 but to be honest I've never really noticed a big difference from playing with that value.

BTW, does anyone have the default MAP calibration parameters around?
