Default Computer gurus.... need some help or advice

Recently I bought a new 22" monitor and hooked it up to the VGA slot... I restarted the computer and reset the resolution to 1650x1050, and the computer all of a sudden got really slow in every task I told it to do. I can't open AIM or Winamp anymore, it just lags up until I end it through the Task Manager. I think it might be a problem with my RAM, because when I start up Photoshop, it hangs up on the "Reading Memory" part.

I have a.... 2.0 GHz AMD with 1.0 G of RAM.

Could it be the higher resolution taking a toll on the RAM? I set it back down to what it was before, and it seemed to still have the problem.

Also, I haven't restarted my computer in about.... 3 weeks or so. I just keep it on all the time. Could this be why... maybe I've burnt out the physical RAM chips?

Most likely coincidence. Did you open the case at all?

What video card? I suppose if you had a card that didn't really support that resolution, but the drivers forced the card to do so, you could have problems. I haven't seen it happen though, but you never know.

Nope didn't open the case at all... the fact that its a bigger monitor couldn't be the reason could it?

The only thing I could think of is the resolution thing... and I didn't install any new drivers so yeah I dunno.

Also, when I tried launching Winamp Uninstaller, I got an NSIS error... not sure what that measn

It is most likely that your video card can't handle the resolution. Drop it down to 1280x1024 and see if things are better. If so, you know your culprit. Get a better video card then.

It is the resolution, some graphics cards use system memory (RAM) when they run out of on board memory. Try resetting the resolution and restarting. Also what video card are you running?

I'd try updating your drivers.

What kind of errors are you getting?
