Default Dondocksteader Coquitlam no more...

Today I tried to make an appointment at the Coquitlam service centre in October but they told me that they are shutting down as of October due to not enough business.

Bummer - wonder if the Cambie location will start opening up on weekends?

That is a bummer. Now I'll have to drive all the way into Vancouver to get service . I liked the one in Coquitlam, too!

No surprise....I requested information from Docksteadeers on-line request-a-quote system about 5 months ago....still haven't heard anything from them.

Guess this is the result if you ignore enough business!

I went there to ask if the front and rear turn signal is the same, and he has no clue. Not to mention the price already,

damn i really like the parts guy there... not the irish (scottish? i dunno) the other office guy... he is super helpfull and was even helping me hunt for old parts for my brat...

i bet i spent almost an hour there looking at their database... super helpfull and i even taught him a few things about the old gen subies...

looks like i'm going to have to deal with the dolts at the wolfe suby parts department...

THE FIRST thing they ask, "what's you're VIN? that way i can look at all the parts for your car!"

me, "that won't work... my VIN is only 10 digits..."

them, "oh... well... ummmmm....... what kinda suby is it?"

me, "a 79 subaru brat..."

them, "no seriously... what kinda suby is it?"

anywho... maybe i can raid their old stock before they leave...

Damn this sucks, even though I don't go back often, I went back for a few times to get quotes on the parts as well as getting the alignment done. I am planning to go back again for alignment but I guess I got to look elsewhere now

I've always gone to Docksteader in Van. For parts anyway, Craig's always been helpful. Never for service, I am my own service

Is it just me or its there something in the drinking water in Langley that makes the guys at the dealerships dumb? At Subaru, they don't recognize what a Subaru is unless its on their lot and someone told them about it. The one at Acura back in the day, I'm fairly confident is considered legally retarded.

Me @ Langley Acura parts: "Hi, I need the cam cap bolt set for an 89 Integra."

Tard: "Oh.... that'llhavetobeordered!"

Me: That's fine. No rush.

Tard: Oh... umm... [hesitantly goes to comp] Is it RS or LS?

Me: Doesn't matter, all the same engine.

Tard: Yesitmatters! They'redifferent!

Me: Fine! LS! What the hell.

[15 - 20 minutes pass] Umm... is this it?
[Shows me an exploded pic of a head]

Me: [Thinking pointing at them will work] I need these 12 bolts and these 12 bolts.

Tard: Oh... that'salotofbolts!

Me: I'm aware. I still need them.

About a month later, one set of 12 is short 2, and the other set of 12 is over 4... thanks buddy, thanks.

They're really that bad? I would choose the Wolfe parts department over Richmond any day.

The first time I talked to the Richmond parts department was when I was trying to get new shifter bushings. After a little bit of explaining the guy finally thinks what he knows what I'm talking about and he says something like "well there are a lot of them here what is your email address I will email the page to you".

The second time I called him he told me that a front inner CV boot was going to cost $70 plus grease and strap.

The third time I called him he told me that I shouldn't bother getting my engine rebuilt because if they bore the cylinders out and put in the slightly oversized pistons it will "get very bad gas mileage".

I've never actually been out to the Richmond dealership I just phone them to see what crazy stuff they come up with.

By the way... I've got my engine out and I'm having a lot of trouble getting the cam sprockets off. I was planning on taking it over to Wolfe tomorrow to get them to take them off for me. Does anyone have any better ideas? Are there any private shops in vancouver that would have the cam gear removal tool?

oh they are bad too! i asked them about the don doc in coquitlam because i couldn't find them in the phonebook... so i phoned them to ask... you'd think they would have numbers for service stations and dealerships...

NOOOOO... they didn't even know it existed...

they even argued it with me, "no sir there aren't any service stations in Coquitlam..."

me, "yes there are... i've been there... it says 'SUBARU SERVICE STATION' on it..."

them, "you must be thinking of something else..."

another wolfe story...

went to pick up a neew throttle cable and wheel bearing set from them...

me, "hi i'm here to pick up a throttle cable and wheel bearing set for my brat..." (took a month to come from japan...)

them, "these parts are for a brat?!?!"

me, "yup..."

them, "is it here!?!?!"

me, "noooooo... i need a throttle cable and wheel bearing set..."

"oh..."

Ha, ha--I just opened that letter tonight. I miss read it the first time, though, because even though RDS said Dec 07 and the letter said 2007, I kept thinking 2006 and wondering why anyone would do two oil changes between now and December .

The thing is every time I've had my car other cars serviced, a loaner was always a given as long as I booked far enough ahead of time. Only when I got the Subaru did it seem like a big deal to get a courtesy car.
