The remote starter on our 2011 Forester took a dump at some point over the summer. Would like to have one for winter, especially with the baby now, anyone ever replace one of these? I seem to remember that the ones from Subaru require a dealership to activate or something and they can't be installed in the driveway. Might look at an aftermarket solution, but I've never dealt with those.

I thought it was solar powered...

It registers the input, car beeps, car acts like it's going to start, and then either doesn't start or doesn't start AND puts the alarm on.

Just had it at the dealership because we thought it was under warranty, it's not under warranty.

Mike Tomlin voice - Obviously I meant the transmitter.

There still could be a bad brake switch, wiring issue etc. and not the unit itself.

Your mom likes the unit

Not sure about 2.2 specifically. Take the oil cap off while it's running and see if smoke puffs out.

Well, it's a non-issue, subaru called back and said they'll replace it at no charge even though it's not under warranty. Pretty happy about that.

Go subaru.

GM still doesn't have the parts to fix my 'fuel pump connector shorts out, leaks gas and may burn down the car' recall.

Isn't that called an "afterburner" thought that was a feature.

I checked pcv earlier, it had my "normal" amount of blowby but motor was cold at that point. Its firing all cylinders, i cant isolate one cylinder doing the spark plug wire removal test.

I dug the kia back out from storage. time to order those wiseco's and drop my other 2.2 block off at Moore.

heres what i found under the oil cap, its pretty ugly.

remember to remove the s from https

Well every part of this car was Cadillac targeting something on a high end competitor. I guess this feature is going after Ferrari. Funny, they fell short on zee German tourers but nailed the Italian super cars.

Any broken ringlands? Or just the piston crown?

If your mom blows number 2, make sure she brushes her teeth and uses mouthwash.

I might have a hook up on some lightly used CP 7420's from the same guy I got all my other Sti parts from, with stock gaskets i'd be at 8.24:1 compression. Sti gaskets would get me 8.78:1

I think i might go with the 8.8 and just run 10psi wastegate pressure. Only problem is I need new rings for the CP's

Heres number 2, theres a hole. I suspect its been bad a while since i have had symtoms a couple weeks

Last week I picked up a used Perrin cat back to try something different. I put it on this weekend and I've decided I don't like it. Its in great shape (could probably use a polishing) and the quality is great. It's just not what I was looking for. I figure I'd try to sell it on here before I start dealing with the jabronis in the NASIOC classifieds or CL. If you're interested, PM me and I'll give you the Pgh thread price. Let's just say I'd like less than half of what Perrin has them on sale for now ($900).

Also, in order to free up some more car parts money I'm going to sell my Konis/Swift Spec R springs. These things are FANTASTIC. They kick a$$ for motorsports and they're more comfortable than Bilsteins/Regular Guy springs for daily driving. No idea what I'd like to get out of these yet. But if you're interested, PM me and we'll talk it aht.
