Civic Type R, Focus RS, and Golf R are all STI class and cost competitors, not WRX competitors.
Si is slow as molasses. That shouldn't even be mentioned in a "class competitor". I could probably beat that going in reverse.

uhh no one was comparing it to STI/Golf R/ CTR.
I would think GTI vs WRX vs RS are pretty comparable in speed/handling.

They get absolutely shredded when they do performance tests.

i've never done it because I don't abuse my car since I want it to last, but I honestly believe I could get that number if I was willing to do a wicket high rpm launch and blow the redline in 1st and 2nd
I don't think thats right though. I mean if you go in with a piston failure and they see your car has red lined like that, thats grounds for saying you abused it and denying coverage.

And honestly you should try it. One launch is not going to toast your vehicle as long as you load the transmission up and don't just dump the clutch. Yeah you might smell some nasty stuff but I think you would be surprised.

Then again maybe not, but if you look at every magazine review on the STI (where, i assume, the cars are also having the crap beat out of them) none of them have broken 5 seconds. Most are around that 5.3-5.5 mark. The only time I've ever seen an STI come close is when Engineering Explained loaded a stage 1 OTS tune on it, and accelerated slightly downhill.
