Default 2015 WRX Audio Install Broken Power windows?

hey I just installed a stereo in my 2015 wrx, when I turn the car on the power windows and door locks don't work on my drivers side door. The power windows don't work on any door actually and the power locks do work on my passenger door. I am certain all the plugs are back in and I didn't clip any wires by mistake I am freaking out what should I do. I may take it to a dealer and just suck it up bc I F'd up ( Also the light that lights up the power window button on the driver door is dimmer than the others/than it used to be and the unlock/lock button doesn't light up at all now any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I go to the dealer and they take all my money I'm so sad bc I wanted to save money by doing it myself and now I just wish I didnt do it or payed for the H/K

in the manual, there is a set of directions to reset the windows. try that first..otherwise the dealer may be it.

Well, let's start from the beginning. Disconnect battery, then double check all connectors are seated properly in all of the doors. Then reconnect battery. Just don't forget to do the auto up/down reset for the driver's window (push and hold down button until window all the way down and keep holding for a few seconds, then pull and hold until all the way up and keep holding for a few seconds).

If I was not swamped I'd tell you to drive up my way (about an hour) tomorrow evening and I'd take a look at it for you. I'll be driving through your area this week but I will be in a rush.

I assume you installed new speakers as part of your stereo install?

Sounds like there is some issue with the wiring going to the drivers side controls. Take the drivers side door panel off and checked that none of the wires are loose (try pushing them in) for the connectors going to the window controls and the lock controls. Check all of the wires for any that are damaged and possible grounding out. If you ran new wires to the speakers make sure you check the wires going between the door and the car.

I just fixed a similar issue with my passenger side window controls not working on the drivers or passenger switches. It was driving me crazy! Even though the drivers side window connector was all the way in and there looked like there was no issue apparently some of the wires gotten pulled out slightly. I pushed them back in and gently put the door back together and haven't had any issues since. Good luck!

Thanks I am trying this tonight, my father is an Electrical Engineer and he is going to continuity test all the wiring in the door to make sure I didnt cut any when pulling new wiring through... I am hoping nothing is cut and it is just a loose connector... what year and model is your car you had the same problem with? was it after an audio install?

THANKS!

I have a 2015 WRX base that I did a pioneer navi and speaker install in last week. Didn't notice the window issues until after I had put everything back together. I had no clue how power window wiring worked so at first I thought it was the passenger switch or window motor. After swapping out the passenger switch and looking at power window wiring diagrams I was sure it had to be the drivers side switch. Sure enough after pulling the panel and pushing the wires back in it started working again. Since I was only having issues with one of the windows my guess is only one or two of the wires were loose. Hopefully you don't have too much trouble tracking down you issue.

FIXED: So yeah there was wires in the driver door harness that pulled out of the connector, one of the wires, the one that connects my rear passenger window works intermittently like goes up or down a little then stops working, we are trying to permanently fit it back in the connector.

NOTE TO FUTURE readers of this thread... the power window buttons on the non-driver door MUST "see" that the driver door window buttons are connected to work properly... This means that if your passenger door up/down window button doesn't work then check that the drivers door front passenger button works before trying to check that the passenger connector works.

FOR ANYONE DOING AN AUDIO INSTALL MAKE SURE TO TAKE EXTRA CARE PULLING THE PLUGS OFF AND NEVER PULL ON THE WIRES!!! advice to mod by lol... wish I wasn't in a rush when I did it...

Try removing both battery cable from the battery. Then hold the negative and positive together for about 30 seconds, and reconnect to the battery. Quick and easy test.

Yea. Props for the fix. I had to laugh at the idea of the whole issue. Sounds like me working on the something electrical at the house. "I changed the wall outlet and the water heater exploded". Ha! Glad you got it worked out.

Glad you got it fixed . Hopefully this thread saves saves some future headaches. Seems like this could be a common issue for the 2015 WRX. It doesn't help that the drivers side connector can be a pain to take out so you yank on the wires to get it out.

Good you got it fixed. Reason the driver's has to be in tact is because of the window lock button on the driver's controls.

We ended up hot gluing the wires in because they kept wiggling out over some time. Seems to be good now don't want to be somewhere and the windows stop working after going down haha...

Glad you fixed the problem. I had the exact same issue last week. Did some audio installation, then a few electrical problems started showing up over a few days. Passenger rear widow went out. Then driver's control panel started acting up. Random windows would stop working then start working. The button that unlocks all the rest of the doors worked intermittently. The problem was that I didn't attach the harness properly when putting door and door card back on. Glad I figured it out before I took it someplace to have it looked at.

Yeah I was like f*** I'll just take it to the dealer but yeah those wires are really fragile... The hot glue seems to be working and I would recommend it if any of your wires are loose and wont stay in...

Hi im new to the forum. I purchased a 2015 wrx base. Took car into to get the windows tinted and they tinted front windows on accident, then when removing the tint scratched my front side windows bad. Subaru tells me the windows are not available to be ordered yet. Is there a replacement that would fit from a previous model?

Bump as a tip to anyone who hasn't seen this thread / caution.

I'm having the same issues after installing speakers.

Be careful with those plugs, apparently not very sturdy...

I really appreciate this thread. I was beating my head against the wall. I tried everything. Checked fuses etc...
Pulled driver's side door card off and pushed wires in. Everything works. Good warning to all DIY enthusiasts trying to upgrade audio.

So I thought I was in the clear. My driver's side window will go down but only goes up small increments. Start stop. I've pushed on wires and I'm ready to just take it to the dealership. Anyone experience this? I've tried the programming technique.
