Try running the rear bar on medium. This will definitely improve any tire lift issues you're having. If you like the current balance of the car it may give you a little more understeer than you want though.

I apologize to everyone who has asked questions months ago that I did not address here. I need to follow this thread a little better. If you don't get an answer here feel free to shoot me a PM or email to get my attention

Thx Geoff...i found this answer shortly after posting and will give it a shot. Sorry for wasting your time. Though probably not bad info on this thread as I've seen this question asked a ton of times with people randomly giving crazy answers.

No problem, happy to help If others find this info useful too then even better. If this doesn't fix the problem just let me know. There are other things you can do as well with rebound settings and tire pressure. Softening the rear bar will make the biggest difference though.

Thanks,
Geoff

Thumbs up Good Info!

When using Factory Endlinks, Prt # 34161SA001. How can I tell what the links are capable of so an aftermarket sway bar will not push them to their maximum tolerances? In other words, how do I pick a bar that will not make them flip as you described?

Factory e-links break with factory bars. Unless you are going to a smaller bar, or planning to drive like a little old lady, just get real end links.

When I google that part number it comes up with a factory tie rod end. What year and model is your car and are we talking about front or rear endlinks? I actually very rarely see anything break or flip aside from 02-07 impreza rear endlinks and we sell swaybars for Subarus on a daily basis. Front OEM endlinks on 02-14 imprezas and rear OEM endlinks on 08-14 imprezas can break with a large bar and aggressive driving, but they rarely do.

The main problem with OEM endlinks with any aftermarket bar worth buying is that they are very flexible. Since they are really only designed to cope with the stress of a factory bar when you put more stress on them they tend to flex quite a bit. This means that they don't allow the swaybar to properly do its job. During that critical first inch or so of suspension travel the swaybar's effective stiffness is far less than it would be with stiffer aftermarket endlinks. The swaybar also acts in a much less linear way. It effectively starts out softer than it should as the factory endlinks flex.

This doesn't mean that swaybars are a bad mod without upgrading endlinks at the same time. They are a better mod if you upgrade the endlinks, but depending on the size of the bars and year of your car you certainly can still benefit from swaybars alone. Hope this helps and just let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Geoff

Good write up. Maybe I missed it, but do you discuss the differences in hollow and solid bars?

I have Whiteline 22mm Front and Rear Adjustable Sway Bars, Whiteline HD Rear Sway Bar Mounts, and Kartboy Front and Rear Endlinks. I have been very please with this setup (on a stock suspension). I have the front set to soft and rear set to medium, creates a more neutral and confident feel in the handling and stability when driving the mountain twisties.

Just installed an STI rear sway and Perrin rear endlinks in my 11 WRX last night.
Stock rear sway is 16mm and the STI is 19mm and as everyone knows the oem endlinks are a joke. The Perrin endlinks look high quality and the instructions with visuals were great. Initial driving impressions are pretty great. The car definitely feels more neutral and flatter through hard turns and higher speed sweeping turns (i.e. on ramps). I decided to go with the STI sway for now just to see how it felt and I figure the Perrin endlinks can handle a heavier sway if I decide to upgrade in the future. For now I'm pretty happy with the setup.

This is a very helpfull thread. I have a 2011 wrx with whiteline 24front and 22rear sway bars. It works the best with the front bar on soft and the rear on the stiffest settings. It rotates so well.

I'm about to install some Tarmac 2 coilovers with 400lb springs front and rear. I'm wondering if I might need to put the stock front swaybar on or a 22mm bar would work better than the 24mm.

Hey guys I'm picking up a "2002 WRX 20mm rear sway bar with oem endlinks. will throw in a set of cobb spherical endlinks" for the wife saabaru.

My question is should I get whitline bushing or just stick with the OEM?

Does anyone know what year WRX/STI sway bars will fit my 99 Legacy Outback best? I'm in need of a much stiffer suspension set up.

Should there be any movement laterally with the sway bar after install?

The amount of lateral movement possible after proper install is a function of the diameter of the bar and the rigidity of the links. OEM poly links allow more movement than kartboy/whiteline metal links with poly-bushings than links with spherical. Realistically, you shouldn't see any movement once installed properly with the lateral forces you can generate.

I have a 2008 impreza outback sport wagon and I want to get front and rear sway bars. When I had my forester I was able to get wrx Sti oem bars and fit.
Does anyone know if the sway bars from a wrx or Sti wagons, from 08-11, also fit my obs?

Thanks

Currently I have the Eibach 25/22 f/r adjusted with soft in front and stiff in rear. I have an 14' wrx hatch with the Racecomp Black spring/ bilstein setup. The car seems to be understeer a bit more than I like.

I just picked up a set of Whiteline 22F/24R solid adjustable bars. I was wondering if I put the Whiteline 24mm in the rear(set at medium) and keep the Eibach 25 in the front(soft setting) would give me more a neutral to a slight over steer? The person I got the Whiteline from had the 22F/24R in his 13 hatch and loved it. I have never seen this reversed setup in the past. Any comments?

Great option for 02-07 WRX wagons and GC sedans
