My uncle always makes fun of me for having a Japanese car (He's a total muscle car guy). I'm always at his shop either working on his race car, 84 ex trans-am camaro with Chevy RCR NASCAR motor punching out a conservative 650hp (He dominates his class with the car), or my impreza 2.5i. Heres one of my favourite conversations I've had with him.

Him: What do you want to do to the rice burner today?
Me: Just a little suspension work.
Him: Why don't you just get something with a V8 and actually be fast?
Me: What car did I see kick your Camaro's a** at the track last week?
Him: Thats no fair, they have money growing from their a**es.
Me: Those Versace Subarus are pretty quick aren't they? (for those of you that don't know, the Versace Subarus are 2 insanely modified hawk-eye STI track beasts that have close to $500,000 into them each).
Him: Yeah, Subaru's are pretty good...for rice burners

Love the guy to death though and I can say its because of him (and my other uncle for that matter for) that my passion for cars started.

Now I can teach him a thing or two about Subarus when we rip apart my recently purchased EJ22T junkyard motor

Another story (sorry for the back to back posts). I was at the track with my aunt and we were heading up to a good spot to watch my uncle race when all of a sudden a wild 2.5RS appeared with an exhaust (UEL's sounded amazing).

Me: It sounds sssooooooo good!
Aunt: It sounds like a Honda that caught a cold
Me: but its a subaru, it has UEL's and is the best sounding 4 cylinder out there (as some crazy V8 XXXhp car flies by on the track)
Aunt: Now thats what a real car sounds like
Me:

I can't say my aunt has a bad taste in cars because she has an L28 swapped Datsun 240z that I love ever so much (and get to drive when its just me and my uncle )

Oh, you might not know. After 8 years of experience in visiting Ocean City. You will ALWAYS be asked this question. Always and forever. From the people who don't know, and the people who do know and want to get this reaction out of us.

All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.

Went to gamestop. My car is clearly visible from inside. I walk up to the counter and the sales associate says "hey nice Subaru. What year is it?" "It's on 06 Wrx " sales guy says and I s*** you not, "oh that's cool, but I prefer the hawkeye BodyStyle the most." I just looked at him in disbelief. Granted he only gets paid to know video games, it still irks me.

I would have asked him what year the hawkeye was.

Next time just tell them to pay for new tires/any parts that break and bust a cyclone. That should shut em up. Of course if they're walking and have no car then you have no time for them f that noise.

I play drums (hence my username) and played a show on Saturday with my band Atma Weapon. I usually drive my Outback to shows but I'm doing headgaskets on that so I brought my WRX wagon.

This was the first time I've brought my drums to a show since I went hardcore with the WRX. It looks, sounds and rides much more aggressive than when I used it as a DD and people suddenly couldn't get over the fact I could fit my whole drumset in the car. They were like "Woah! You can fit all of those drums in there too?" and "holy crap I thought you were backing up to do a burnout or something, that car is sick".

I NEVER got comments like that before at shows with the WRX. They didn't care, it wasn't surprising and if anything they'd ask " does your Mazda get as good of gas mileage with all that crap in the car?"

Either people care now because my band is doing well or I have the car dressed up to where it turns more heads than it used to. I don't care, I'm just glad people think something I do is cool. Too long has my taste in music and cars impressed only technically minded men and annoyed girls lol.

Dude, your band has a killer sound. I like the song personally. Makes me miss the days that I used to play out. Nothing quite like playing a show and people digging your music. Your wagon looks killer too, really clean yet aggressive.

My previous room mate pulls up next to me on the highway, looks down at me from the driver's seat of his F150, points at my hood and holds up his hand; "Four Cylinders". He then points at his hood and puts up both hands, "Eight Cylinders".

He smiles, stomps on the gas, and drives away. I had no interest in upsetting him (2013 STi).

I had a kid point to my stock radiator shroud and say you don't need that along with one other stock part. I didn't know what to say. His falling apart 2000 non aspirated impreza with fart can was just so magical I lost my train of thought.

Naturally or normally aspirated is what N/A stand for, not "non aspirated".

I'm humble about my 99% stock Subaru. This kid was full of crap and had nothing good or even correct to say about my car. Sorry about NA faux pas by the way. He was just one of those guys trying to ramble on about how much he knew. Which was very little. I'm no expert but I don't pretend to be either.

I did similar tetris games with my old 02 Honda Accord Sedan. The WRX was both a giant kick in the pants AND a practical upgrade from my previous car lol.

Ha, that's awesome.

Might be a bit of a surprise if the sudden unexpected throttle input change makes the car lose traction and spin out though, lol. Not a concern on dry roads, but I could see that happening on an icy patch...

You dont listen to Avenged Sevenfold by chance..do you? Only band I've seen where the drummer twirls his drumstick in his hand more then once in a performance, live or on video. Good sound though! Little light for me... but music is music. Love the wagon! The more I look at my base 2.5TS the more I love it
