for those of us that have changed the stock knob to say...the momo air race leathers. they have no shift pattern. come inspection time, they call for it. don't know why but they do.

I did mine mostly for look so if you do not like the idea then do not do it...simple as that. FromMugen2STI--my car, my choice...any more question! Why ask WHY...
I forgot to take a picture today so I'll post one as soon as I get a chance. Yup, it's a 1,2, 3, 5, and R pattern. To tell you the truth, it came out very nice. I put SYMS logo on mine since I have several SYMS parts for my car--plus it's different. |

I didn't know it was a law for inspection either. I know if you get a Subaru from the "factory" with an STi knob, or whatever, they put on the obligatory H-pattern sticker. I thought that was a Subaru legal thing, not a law. Would be interested knowing which states require and which do not. I passed inspection w/o it, but maybe I just had some lenient folk.

i know of some that have and have not passed inspection here in jersey because of this. guess it does depends on the place. who's to say that joe shmoe at the inspection station knows all the shift patterns on all cars.

When you post the pictures, do you mind attaching the photoshop of the pattern you used? I'm not in the business of reinventing the wheel if I have to. |

The SPT emblem is cool. How was that done? The SYMS emblem is awesome as well! I might actually have to suck it up and go to a scrapbooking store. Tell you wife thanks for dragging your ass in there.

One thing, you need to use glossy photo paper and a good color printer but since the lettering are small anyway, a good color printer might not even make a big difference.
The other one is still a working project...the production number is from my VIN and it's also printed out from my color printer. The plate is from any engraving/trophy place--ask them to cut you a plate. Also, if you want to be fancy, you can actually do a sublimation process from the same place you bought the plate from--not sure on how much. I rather do it myself since it is so easy. If you guys are lazy to do it, maybe I can make it for you. Sacramento people, I can make one and bring it to one of the meet. Last edited by 2002WRX_5speed; 11-15-2005 at 10:21 PM. |

Great idea! i think i will try this today. Can you buy these page pebbles in a larger form, say the size of Subaru emblem? I think it would be cool to maybe make a STi one or something thats maybe like 2''x3'' or something like that.

QAboy - it's a sticker type that you can print using your printer(the process is not perfected yet--once I find a better way, I will post)
adam555 - I can not find a larger pebble (rectangular) yet...if you find one let me know coz I have a great idea for this. c_hunter - thanks, give it a try and the good thng about it, if you don't like the way it come out, you can do another one easily If anybody would like to see a specific shifter pattern design, let me know. |

I can't see.
2002WRX_5speed,
I love the picture of the Syms shift pattern but I was not able to see the others you had on the Epson web site, the three links said the photo was unavailable. The SPT plaque on the metal plate (later post) looked great was well. Is it possible to see the pics again that were missing on the Epson site? Are they maybe in another thread or could you e-mail them? Sorry to be a pain but this simple mod really intriques me and has spurred some ideas. Thanks! Mike |
