Question EJ22T into a 95 Impreza 1.8L

I heard something that the Stock ECU wont like the EJ22T?

Which means you need to do like 40 hours of rewiring for it to work? is that true?!?

correct, the 1.8 ecu is 1 dimensional and the 2.2T is equipped for handling and controling the boost.

think about it, why would the 1.8 ECU handle a boosted engine? It simply cant on its own, either put in a turbo 2.2 ECU or go NA with the stock one if you want to stay easy and cheap. and go 2.5 if you do cause if you are gonna do it why waste time with an NA 2.2 when the same amount of work can get you a EJ25?

Because I have to skip the whole 1998 engine year due to bad gaskets... and the price just goes higher... at least this one site I looked at nothing was under $1000

you can run the ej2.2t with the 1.8 computer, but to make it easy you would have to buy a stand alone air fuel system, just like if you bought a turbo kit for the 1.8 and had it bored to 2.2, i think i found a way to trick the 1.8 computer to run the 2.2 turbo, still workin out the bugs
