Default Listen to This Twin-Turbo-Swapped Shelby GT500 Make 1252 HP on a Dyno

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is no slouch. It makes 760 horsepower from the factory thanks to a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine, allowing it to sprint to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. You'd think owners would be satisfied with that type of performance. But you'd be wrong.

Every Angle of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Sean Backus, the owner of this bright orange-painted Shelby, decided the factory output wasn't enough for him. So he had RaceMod Tuning Specialists, a performance shop in North Canton, Ohio, fit up a twin-turbo kit originally designed to fit on the standard Mustang GT. With a bit of fabrication the kit is able to work with the Shelby just fine, breathing even more life into its already rowdy motor.

The car, thanks to the tuning expertise of Palm Beach Dyno, is now able to squeeze out an incredible 1252 horsepower at 8070 rpm and 867 lb-ft of torque at 6900 rpm. Thankfully, the shop filmed the entire process, giving us a chance to hear the motor at full-tilt. Even without a flat-plane crankshaft, this thing sounds amazing at eight grand. You wouldn't even be able to guess there are two turbos muffling the exhaust gases.
