Default 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Gets a New Engine Calibration and an IMSA Special Edition

2022 Chevrolet Corvette Gets a New Engine Calibration and an IMSA Special Edition

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a3...vette-updates/

The 2022 Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition, limited to just 1000 units, gets a graphics package and carbon trim.

Chevrolet has announced today updates to the 2022 Corvette. For the 2022 model year, the C8 gets an updated fuel management system and a new engine calibration. Buyers will also have the chance to option a limited-edition cosmetic package that pays tribute to Chevy's factory IMSA efforts.

The 6.2-liter naturally aspirated LT2 V-8 that sits behind the C8's cabin has been upgraded with a new direct injection fuel system paired to a new engine tune, which Chevy says provides for an "enhanced active fuel management range." Power remains unchanged, however, at 490 horses (or 495 if you option the performance exhaust system). There's also a new spoiler option for C8s without the Z51 package.

The biggest change for 2022 is the addition of a new $6595 package Chevy calls the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. A tribute to the C8.R's dominant campaign in the IMSA Weathertech series, it's based on the most expensive 3LT trim, and limited to just 1000 units. Buyers will have a choice between an Accelerate Yellow No. 3 or Hypersonic Gray No. 4 color schemes, each featuring contrasting accents along the body.

The cars also get a high-wing spoiler, yellow brake calipers, carbon wing mirrors, black side skirts, black-painted wheels with the "Jake" logo printed onto the center caps. Inside, you'll find either a yellow or a gray-colored cabin to match whichever exterior color you pick. The GT2 seats come standard, as do yellow seat belts and a numbered plaque. Buyers will also receive an indoor car cover with a C8.R design scheme based on their car's color combo, which is pretty neat.

Chevy says dealers will begin taking orders for the 2022 Corvette on July 1. Starting MSRP is set at $62,195 for the coupe ant $69,695 for the convertible, representing an increase of $1200 over the previous year's models.

It's not even like they NEED to resort to this yet lol... they still have massive amounts of pent-up-demand due to lack of availability. I don't understand what the point of this is >.>
