Default Legacy gt needs new engine

I have a 1997 legacy gt dohc with and engine that has a misfire in the #1 cylinder. I have looked long enough at all different engines and still don't know what to do. I wanted a wrx engine and tranny for it but someone said that the rear diff would be different from what is in my car. I'm looking for something with a little more power and a higher rev then my stock tranny. Can someone help me with some info on engines or a long block.
