Default Installing a turboback exhaust yee haa questions

Hey Guys,

What do you guys use to lift up the car to intsall the turboback exhaust? The spare tire jack seems insufficient to give it the required clearance to work underneath. What are some cheap and easy ways I can get the car up to do this install?

Second, I have never even changed a tire in my life i'm not even adept enough to call myself a rookie mechanic. Is this install too ambitious?

Third, what tools will I need? I'm thinking of buying a toolset with ratchets, wrenches, hex keys, screwdrivers etc.. from Sears or something will this be sufficient. I know I need WD-40 to spray down the nuts and bolts to loosen before dismantling the stock exhaust.

Thanks for your help guys,

AmRik.

Do not use the included jack. Its only purpose is to raise the car enough to change a single tire.

Go out and buy yourself a floor jack and 4 jackstands (think about $50 from Sears) or wheel ramps.

You're pretty dead-on with the rest of the stuff you'll need.

It isn't a difficult install... just a bunch of bolts and such. Having a friend who is willing to help is a good thing to have, but by no means necessary.

Good luck with the install.

One more question is about the hangers..

Are the stock exhaust hangers still usable for the 3" Helix Turboback?

Thanks,

AmRIk.

wrxfx,

If you're planning to do much modding, ramps and a jack/jackstands are both good things to have around. I recently got a set of Rhino ramps from PepBoys for just over $17. Made my rear swaybar and endlinks install a breeze. MB38's price for a jack and 4 jackstands is about right...I saw a jack and 2 jackstands at Sears for $27.49, and a 2nd set of jackstands will run about $15.

A word of caution. Never get under a car lifted with a jack without using jackstands...especially the jack for the spare tire. That's an accident waiting to happen.

When you put the exhaust parts back together, put some anti-seize on the bolts. If you have to take anything apart later, it will make life much easier.

Happy modding!
