You beat me too it AVANTI!....I just saw it here....
http://www.leftlanenews.com/nhtsa-in...gearboxes.html I have to say, the only issue I have ran into on mine is grinding into 5th. Why cant we just pull it together as a country and start manufacturing everything HERE again? Mike |

IB4 Mustang fanboys come in here and say the problem doesn't exist and it's the consumers fault.

Hopefully Ford will step up and get this problem addressed, as well as the MyFord Touch issues. They've made great strides in reclaiming a good reputation, now is not the time to stumble. Mulally has done an awesome job so far, I find it hard to believe he'll let everyone down now. |

That's completely unrelated. The "problem" with WRX trannies is that the owner modifies their car for more power than the tranny is designed for, and/or drops the clutch to launch it like a race car, blowing up their transmission in the process, then complains that the tranny is made of glass.
With the Mustang, owners are complaining that it's not going into gear. |

They seem to have a lot of issues with the Mustang. A problem thread pops up on here for that car quite a bit.

The problem exists, it's real, and Ford refuses to acknowledge it. Several guys have even had their trannies replaced only to have the problem happen again. It sucks. Unfortunately, even the guys with Bosses are having problems as well. |

This would be the first I've heard of this. Sometimes it's hard to get into 1st and reverse but that's due to the synchros(or the lack thereof). I'm able to get it into gear after a little extra force or by letting off the clutch a bit, but it does go in every time. If it didn't, I'd fully expect Subaru to replace it(if I was still under warranty, that is). |

It's still a great car. Plenty of manufacturers have issues all of the time. Subaru has had numerous issues over the years and they don't seem to have any problem selling cars. Likewise with Ford and every other manufacturer out there. If the MT82 scares you, buy an auto. They haven't proven to be any slower than their manual counterparts. Quote:

kind of hard to feel secure knowing that a guy named sling dong long in a sweat shop assembled the transmission.
best mod for this car seems to be an extended warranty. IIRC factory powertrain is 5/60k...about industry average and fairly decent. |

Which doesn't mean jack if Ford isn't willing to help you. That's what bothers me the most about the situation - Ford is just trying to sweep it under the rug and pretend that a problem doesn't exist. They're going to lose all of those new customers that they originally brought in with the '11 GT.
