IAC location?
I've been reading some threads about cleaning the IAC but am unsure where it is located on the RS. I'm chasing a hunting idle/stalling problem and figured that would be a good place to start. I'm guessing it is just below the TPS(?) on the TB. Is that correct? Any tips on how to clean it? Thanks
Cameron

On the 98 RS it's seperate from the throttle body- It's located to the side of the tb, near the crankcase pcv vent.

Thanks. Would the IAC cause the car to die stall while driving? I've had it stall while i was doing 50mph last night and a few times today while driving slower. Thanks

I have a hose from the BOV to the intake and a hose from the IAC to the intake. Neither of those appear to be leaking. If they did, wouldn't the car constantly stall as opposed to occasionally stalling? I drove about an hour nonstop last night before the car stalled while i was doing 50. After i restarted the car, it never stalled the rest of the night. When it stalled, i was able to downshift into fourth and bring the revs up but the car wouldn't accelerate.

In the N/A forums there was another thread about a stall issue. Was because of the O2 sensor. Kinda hard to pinpoint when its intermittent and your not getting a CEL

I hooked up my wideband O2 tonight. While i was cruising my AFRs were in the 11s and then all of a sudden the wideband read "lean". That's when the car stalled. What would cause me to go from AFRs in the 11s to suddenly lean like that?

Want me to make a list??
TPS, Fuel pump, intermittent clogged filter on the fuel pump or the fuel filter, bad O2 sensor, bad MAF sensor Anything that has to do with the control of the fuel. Most of those should throw a CEL. If i were you, i'd probably pull out the fuel pump and check inside the tank and see if you've got anything in there that could be getting sucked to the filter on the pump. You could also have a wire that rubbed through and is grounding out. Pretty much, your going to have to check one thing at a time to find the problem. |
