I feel like this is the right thread for this. I wanted to watch If Looks Could Kill, with Richard Grieco. My only options are DVDs, used for $23.
Zero streaming. Zero BluRay.

WTF.

Psssh. I want Dead Alive on blu-ray. Cheapest I've ever seen it was $70. Usually in the $100+ range

anyway, DVD and bluray still exist because not everyone has internet fast enough to support it.

bluray very well might be dead for those that have the means by which to stream everything.

while I can still buy blu ray in best buy, which means it isn't completely dead, the selection of movies they provide takes up a smaller area than they dedicate to hipsters and their record players.
Blu Ray is far superior to streaming due to audio quality. Streaming anything it gets compressed. And 4k players and panels up convert so they made Blu-Ray viewing excellent.

gripe2: I should have bought CDs instead of mp3s.
Best Buy here has expanded their 4k disc section. While the CD's and DVD's have shrunk, Blu-Ray has maintained the rows/section and 4k has expanded.

I subscribe to Netflix Blu Ray snail mail program, as it's the fastest way to get new films on disc to this day. I mean you can buy them individually off some streaming service, but you pay for it in picture and audio quality. I also subscribe to a 4k disc membership online. Those take longer to get to me than Netflix since it's a much smaller company but the 4k discs are incredible, especially the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos discs. Better PQ and audio than just about any movie theater.

Physical medium isn't going anywhere anytime soon. 4k discs are catching on streaming quality sucks.

It was like Peter Jackson's 2nd or 3rd movie I believe. Came out in '92. Funny, bloody, gory zombie flick.

I bought a 50in Toshiba 4K TV before the Superbowl. Streaming HD/BD Playback is nice. I havn't checked out my 4K options yet, but I would imagine a physical 4k player is better than Streaming from the Universe.

The title also translates to "Braindead: your mother has been eaten on my dog".

Sounds legit.

All the streaming services are lowering quality to SD in Europe to reduce load on the infrastructure. It's probably a matter of time before they do it here too.

It sucks that my 4k discs are suddenly going to look and sound worse. Oh wait.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the 1080p streams reduced to 720p as they were a while back on Comcast's cable broadcasts. The majority won't notice anyway.

From what I read, they're going to 480p.

Ooooph. 720p...yeah, I can tell, but it's not usually objectionable.

480p...ouch. Now everything is going to look like reruns of Black Sheep Squadron and late night 80's sitcom episodes?

Harsh!

I still buy movies on disc from Amazon/BestBuy almost twice a month. I'll get 4k copies for Oscar Nominated (or ones I think will be) and movies with a lot of movement/detail. BR for anything else that I just like and want a copy of.

I posted on my IG some of the end of days themed movies I was watching throughout the week and people were like, "Who buys movies on disc hur dur ?!"

I'm about quality over convenience. Plus I'm a cinephile...

They'll enjoy their 480p stream of Scario on their 75" tv

Netflix. If it doesn't get as bad as it use to be where the first 5 or 10 minutes of what you're watching looks 10p then finally gets to 720p then drops to 30p it can be shrugged off by me. But I'm seeing a **** ton of color banding. If that's the worse thing that happens in the next few weeks to me I leave the letters to my congressmen on unmailed.
