Probably just needs a 20mm RSB and better tires.

Not sorry. They blew it with the LXT. Figured I'd take a break from the madness... and found I'd lucked out.
I fully understand personal preference; but, just find it "crazy" you like the Impreza(as good as it is) better than the Legacy. The current Legacy/Outback are, obviously in my opinion, the best yet. Including the XTs. Could they have done "better"? Sure. But, after driving one in mild anger, I think they did fine for an everyday car.

I'd certain be on the side of a "proper" GT option again though.

It's the weight, coupled with an excellent chassis. Where I live, handling is king. Not power. On any fun mountain road I can go just as fast, except the uphill blast. But at the end of the day, it's more fun than most cars I've known.

The drivetrain is better than most think and in all cases but outright, and usually superfluous, power displays, it's more than happy with any traffic or roadway anywhere. Meanwhile, I enjoy very low cost per mile from excellent fuel economy using regular gasoline... in a car that cost around $10k less with a 0% loan. It has every amenity on the list, the best seats since forever, perfect utility, and, to me, the looks I've been looking for. Crazy? Maybe... as a fox.

The LXT has nothing enticing for me except it's motor. Frankly, all it is and more is no further away than a Camry... and I ain't going there, either. There's more to life with a car than it's engine's power, especially where I live.

If it had been the 15 year reincarnation of my '05 LXT, I'd likely never have looked at the Impreza. That would have been my loss.
