David Coulthard reckons that McLaren don’t deserve to win the world championship because they have made too many mistakes.

The Scot is careful to use the royal ‘we’ in his criticism but apart from his error in the French Grand Prix when he exceeded the pit-lane speed limit, the Scot has driven superbly this season.

Speaking to the BBC Coulthard said: "You either do a job that is deserving of the title or you don't and at the moment we are not and we know we need to improve."

"The easiest way to win is to have the best car and to perform," said Coulthard. "But as long as I know that I'm giving 100 per cent then I'll take the positives out of (my situation).

"I can't do anything about the car. I can't try and solve it because it is not my speciality. You need to rely on the people around you and then things will get better.

"In our quest to make things better we miss things and make mistakes. We are only human, it is a human sport despite all the technology that is involved. I'm not any harder on the people who have made mistakes than I need to be because we can all make mistakes."

Coulthard is refusing to give up on the world championship despite the fact that Schumacher is now 31 points ahead in the standings.

"Naturally, it is deflating to see the gap increasing, but because I wasn't looking at the points gap when it was four points, I haven't noticed so much that it has gone up," he said.

"You either win or you lose. If I lose the championship it can be by 60 points - it doesn't matter if you've lost by a couple of points because it has still happened."

Is it just me, or does it seem like DC is blaming the people around him for not helping him win the World Championship?

That's exactly what I thought when I read that this morning. Right on par for DC.

Yep, I mean, he chokes and then blames everyone around him because he doesn't have the best car. He had the best car for a couple of years and Mika smoked him both seasons. I think DC is doomed to never win a title.

If I remember correctly, didn't McLaren have the best car this season until the Spanish Grand Prix?

I think it is debatable. They might have a little more power, but Ferrari is rock solid when it comes to reliability. I would rather have the Ferrari than the McLaren anyday at the moment, but two years ago when they romped all over the field in Australia, I would have taken the McLaren.
Coulthard should have been more of a contender those years. I dont knock him for not trying, but now he is fighting an up-hill battle to stay on par with the Ferrari, whereas 2 years ago, he had a definate advantage, he just didnt take the bull by the horns.
Did you guys read that Kimi is eyeing a Ferrari drive, and the news reports say that they might be considering him as a replacement for Schumi, when he leaves the team. I kinda hope so, I think Kimi could do a good job with more practice and experience. McLaren have locked in DC for the next year, big surprise.

He did, but Mika has not been given the nod yet, makes me wonder if the rumours about retirement are true. Kimi would be cool at McLaren too, but they may be looking for a brit, I am interested. I think I would make a good addition to the Mercedes McLaren team. I would look smashing in one of those silver shirts.

And here comes Justin Colman out of nowhere, storming through the field. Although he missed qualifying and started in last place, he has made up 18 spots in 10 laps, he's really turning up the heat on the front runners. Colman takes a look on the inside of Barrichello and goes for the pass.....ooohhh that was close, that's the way you out break an opponent in Formula 1. I just cant believe how he is moving through the field, it looks like he has Hakkinen, Montoya and R. Schumacher to pass now, can he do it? This could be interesting, back markers, Colman moves off the line and lookes to the outside of Hakkinen and the struggling Minardi. I Cant believe it, the Minardi's lack of acceleration has given Colman the edge on Mika and he passed him. Wait a second, is that Montoya going slowly, what in the world? The story of this Grand Prix folks, is definitly Justin Colman, all he has to do is catch Ralf and this may be one of the greatest races of all time. Here goes Ralf into the pits, Colman is staying out, he must be running on fumes, but he turning in a scorching lap. Ralf's out out of the pit's, not a bad stop, 8.73 secs, can Colman make it count here. Colman pits, and he's out, in 7.98, will this be enough? This pitlane exit must seem like an eternity. Colman exits the pits, and here comes the younger Schumacher, he's storming up hehind him. Ralf makes the pass, but Colman is right there behind him, this is turning out to be classic confrontation. Colman is using every inch of the track, he's all over Ralf, waiting for a small mistake. And there it is, Ralf has kissed the Armco, The mirrors filled with nothing but Colman nust have distracted Ralf, and he put a foot wrong. All Colman has to do now is concentrate on not making any mistakes himself and the race is his

Aaahhhhhh, I can see it now.

Default but what's this??...

...Dittmar has moved through the field as well and is just a few seconds behind Colman. The last minute Williams replacement took the drive after Montoya binged on chili-dogs and Marc Gene had a mysterious incident with an unknown fan in which his ankle was broken. It looks to be a battle of rookies here this afternoon. Dittmar's Michelins appear to be holding up well, and it looks as if Colman is slowing a bit.....

ya right

Cruising home may not be as easy as Colman thought, with the daring rookie Dittmar closing quick. Colman radios the pit and asks for some solid advice from team manager Felstead. "Uh mate, you need to drive the bollocks off that thing to stay in front of the hard charging Dittmar" As he passes the pits he see's the split times on a pit board being held by Arioch, 2 secs. "I better get a move on" Colman says to himself.

OH NO!!! As Dittmar came out of Turn 4 the traction control apparently failed and he spun across the track, taking with him the BAR Honda of Fred Zaplitny, driving his first GP after Panis suffered an ingrown toenail. What a disappointment for the two stand-in drivers....

Whats this...whats this...

I have never seen such a feet of stupidity! A bloody american fool with a SCRAPPYDO T shirt is running along the back straight with the numbers 555 tatooed across his head! Their appears to be... yes, I belive it is.... a large monkey on his back. If I am not mistaken, the monkey appears to be beating him with an empty can of Guiness... incredible!

Have you ever seen such a weird sight in all your days?

NO I haven't, lets hope that the Dittmar and Coleman will have enough sense to run over this idiot, and then continue to use him as a speedbump!

Wow, look at that guy go, the monkey is relentless, I have never seen such a beating at the hands of a monkey since Jane GoodAll got attacked by a large female Chimp over a banana tree dispute...

Truely brutal! Well thats one for the record books...lets go to a commercial..

Donjuan- Well Silverstone is done, now we will have to start thinking strategy for Germany, since our reallife counterparts are still out with whatever is ailing them, Anyone else is welcome to be a stand-in for their favorite man. One spot on McLaren and Williams are already taken. I can feel another classic Colman, Dittmar battle in the land of saurkraut (spelling?).

Hockenheim here we come. Ralf and I will be ready, and we're out to knock McLaren out of that number two spot. You may have had a good run, but your teammate is a Coul-turd.

Hope Fred's not pissed that I punted him.....

Hehehehee.

I am doing some secret testing at our Woking testing facility in the next week, I will be trying to put the pressure on DC again and the rest of the field. The rumours throughout the pit lane are that Trulli is out and a new talent, Scrappydo, will be taking his place.

So far I have 10 points in our mini season, the rest of you DNF'd

Rookie of the year?????

We dont have rookie of the year in Europe.

If you dont win you dont count, who cares if you were a rookie or not. I'll tell you who, NOBODY.

I almost died laughing when Nigel Mansell got rookie of the year in the Indycar series in 93. The man was F1 world Champion and Indycar series champion at the same time and he got rookie of the year!!! The most hilarous thing i had seen awarded ever.

Mansell, what a hero in the car, what a whiner out of it.

Kimi, not a single doubt in my mind, if he keeps his form next year he will be in a Ferrari in 2003. Sorry Ruebens, but you suck as an F1 driver, never impressed me ever, i'd kick your ass in my westie. LOL
As for his podium robot dances, that seriously sucks ass. No wonder he is getting stuffed in the car. If his feet dance on the pedals like they do on the podium he doesnt stand a hope in hell.

babe of the week, my kind of pit babe, gorgeous and funny.
