I wonder how Royal Cosmic Blue P45f'd would look on a Obsidian Black Pearl STI. The OBP paint has some blue and green metallic flakes in it and I wonder how well those wheels would match the paint. IMHO, dark color rims look so much better with a polished lip. They outline the wheel and give it a little necessary bling. Especialy from a distance, a dark wheel without a lip looks dirty to me most of the time. I am still waiting for others to sign up on the 18X8.5 5-115.3 Royal Gloss Black P45F's. Those are my favorite.

Hey,

The Grid's will be $650 shipped. Same price as the regular Grid's even though this is a special order color

Hey,

There are no plans for any 18x8.5 wheels to be made however the P45F wheel can be special ordered in this sizing for the Subaru. If there is a color you want for this wheel let me know and I can start a list for you.

Hey,

It is not the hardest process to do but you will need a nice machine shop to do the work. Unfortunately Rota USA can not do this process as they do not have the proper tools to do this. You would need to get the lip polished and then I would recommend having the wheel clear coated again. We have not done this before to a wheel we have in the shop but I would imagine the cost would be around $200. Let's just hope more people see the new group buy and jump on the Royal Gun Metallic color

Re-posting these pictures as a ploy to speed up ordering on Royal Black 18X8.5 5-114.3. This is fitment for 2005 or 2006 STIs. You know you want 'em...

Similar wheel on a black car:

Just curious, what's the reason that people choose 8" width vs. 8.5" width, especially for 05 or 06 sti fitment?

l_0_s - Unfortunately we cannot do this size for the Grid's. Only available size is the 17x7.5 Grid.

gharari - Not everyone wants to run the widest tire they can fit on the car. Some people still run winter tires on their wheels or all season where you wouldn't want to have a super wide contact patch like you would with a summer tire.

OK, thanks for the explanation Dan. I wouldn't think that there would be much PERFORMANCE difference in the snow between an 8" and a 8.5" width wheel when comparing the same size tire. Also, with an 8.5 tire, you can still use a 225 width tire if you still desired, right?

On the other hand, in the dry, the wider wheel width would give you the option to change to a wider tire (like 245 or 255) for summer performance and/or motorsports.

Weight is another performance concern, however, the added wieght of the 8.5" vs. 8" wheel is probably negligible when compared with the benefit of the larger contact patch and added grip.

So, I think that, a 8.5 width gives yout the most flexibilty in both seasonal extremes, allowing one to go narrow in the winter and as wide as you want for the summer.

Just out of curiosity, how would a set of 18x8 Torque's in steel grey look on a silver 05 Legacy 2.5i? From my observations, the style looks as if it can directly replace the stock rims without anyone ever being able to tell the difference.

and...How does the driving feel after going from a 16x7(i think?) to something as large as 18x8? Road noise? Greater inertia = slower acceleration?

The car has almost 5k miles on it...98% of it in the city. Would rims of this size be a smart choice, to be frank?

This is when I start wishing the funds were greater so I can make said purchase.

Driving feel really depends on what tire you decide to run. If you run a high performance summer tire on a 18" it will feel pretty firm while as a nice well rounded tire will ride super smooth. I run S-03's on my 17" rims and when I had the 18" P45F on my car w/ T1S's the car rode so smooth and there was no road noise, was like driving a stock car again. So tire choice make a big difference in your ride quality. Acceleration again depends on what size diameter tire you ran on the 16x7, of coure the 16x7 will be lighter for given reason so it will accelerate quicker since there is less rotational mass. The 18" torques are super light though, 20.4 pounds for a 18" wheel is awesome. For city driving these rims would be great as they are strong so they can put up with pot holes and look awesome so you will be crusing in great looking ride.

Steel Grey 18" Torques will be in our shop right after Christmas, ETA is Dec. 28th. Gold, Gun Metallic, and Bronze are available now.

just noticed it said 8.5 for my royal gun matalic, while i don't mind 8.5 i would rathing run 8 since, as stated above, there's not reason for 8.5 for winter tires.
