Post 22b suspension mods to use wider tires

What suspension mods does the 22b use to be able to have 235 series tires and not hit the struts? I've heard things like Legacy hubs and custom something else.

Details would be appreciated (or point me to a web page that has the specifics.)

All about nothing! There are no specifics there. Some people say they used SVX swing arms and half shafts, others say Legacy hubs. Who is right?

Basically I am trying to determine what needs to be done to get 235 tires on my car (outside of fender clearance issues) and not drastically affect the handling by changing offset.

Aren't we all?

The suspension geometry is basically the same. In order to run 235s, you're going to need wider fenders and different offset. The 22B uses a very different offset (+33, I think). Also, it uses 8.5" wheels. There is no way you can run 235s safely without changing the offset and the fenders! If you do, your tires won't move, as they'll be stuck to the strut body and will be rubbing heavily on the fender side.

I used to run 225s and I had to roll the fenders and grind the strut body (not very smart, I know but I know what I was doing) so that it would fit. Even so, I was still able to hear the tire lettering as it rubbed the strut bodies.

22B wheels are 8.5x17 ET48 and 9x17 ET45 will fit too. The front suspension is the same except that it has the aluminum lower arms. The rear has a wider track with longer lower arms and axles. That's as much as I can find out. As to whether the parts are unique to the 22B, I dunno. You can get MRT's adjustable lower arms and custom axles if you really want the wide track rear. Or, you could just get ET33 (or thereabouts) rear wheels which will give you the same track width. Of course you'll need wider fenders to cover the wheels ... I make carbon 22B-style flares for $2500 for the whole set.
