Default Base map, Realtime map

Can someone explain the differences between a base map and realtime map on the AP to a map on the UTEC? From my understanding, a base map on the AP would be akin to having a chip reflash. A Realtime map on the AP and a UTEC map would be very similar to each other, doing about the same job. Is this correct in thinking? Would it be possible to tune a UTEC to control the car similar to a reflash? Thanks

Check their websites . This is from the Cobb site:
Base Map - Refers to any map that is flashed into the ECU.
Real Time - Refers to a Real Time switching map that can be used without flashing the ECU

you're not making a correct relation between access ecu maps and utec maps. they cannot be compared. RT maps were created so that data can be manipulated in real time, while the car is running, without flashing the ECU with the information to see how the car responds to the new info. THere is no 'flash' with UTEC.
