Subaru Legacy GT or Subaru Forester XT???
Getting ready to buy, and for all of those car buffs you might know a little more about each one to help me along on this journey. Which is better, now considering this question, I mean peformance wise, comfort, space, which is more economical. Now I know I work sales for continental I work for Nissan not Subaru, but hopefully I will work for subaru here in a couple months Anyways, any help would be more than appreciated. And as much as I would love to ask the people of Subaru, I figured you would be the better bunch to ask. Thanks!

Well.. what do you need?
Faster acceleration: XT (barely) Better handling: GT (barely) More comfortable: GT Space: GT Wagon (most), XT, GT Sedan (least) Economical: toss-up --- Drive both, they're excellent vehicles. Also, take into mind that the XT is receiving a facelift for '06. |

It depends on what you are after:
The Legacy is more expensive, has larger back seats, a longer cargo area and a nicer interior with less interior noise. The FXT is cheaper, smallish backseats, and a shorter but taller cargo area. It also a little quicker (at least the manual version is) but doesn't handle quite as well, although it's not too bad. If you are looking to mod the car for even better performance, then the FXT gives you more options since most of the WRX/STI pieces are basically bolt-on and you can get stock pieces from others as they upgrade for cheap. Legacy pieces are more rare although I imagine more options will come out eventually. I chose the FXT because it gives me the best overall bang for the buck. I am in the process of converting the engine and suspension to STI components which I have bought used here on this board and on e-Bay so I will end up with an STI wagon with a larger more useful interior. |

I vote Legacy GT or Legacy GT wagon if you can afford it. Really Nice vehicles and alittle more spacious when youre taking passengers. They look good to.

There are a lot of LGT mods, just not here. I'm pretty sure you can get importers to get what you want. I choose the more refined LGT sedan then again I always wanted a Legacy. I also have an 2002 forester so I don't need another one.

oh man, LegacyGT wagon for sure! More luxurious and refined. Both are fast but the forester is just not eye candy...at all
If you need the cargo and ground clearance than the forester or outback will not dissapoint |

I reality both cars are almost the same mechanically, so it really comes down to size and looks. The Forester looks more like an off-road-capable mini-SUV. The Legacy looks more like a refined urban/highway vehicle. The Outback is somewhere in the middle. Personally, I'd get the Legacy GT.

If you want a great-looking, fast, comfortable, and quick station wagon, get the Legacy.
If you want an SUV that is kind of a SUV/sports car/station wagon cross-over, get the Forester. ks Last edited by iwakuniimpreza; 04-08-2005 at 06:34 PM. |

I picked the Forester because I drive in lots of traffic and like the higher view. I also am in/out of my vehicle many times per day and the Forester has much easer ingress/egress.

GT is a little more refined. Forester has more utility. Of course this is another one of those questions that can't really be answered by someone else other than the person buying the car.

I picked the FXT because it was cheaper by several $k and cheaper to insure... and goes a little faster. It's also a great sleeper.

Don't forget to test drive the Outback XT too.
It is the best of both of the Forester and Legacy. |
