![]() Not sure if anybody on here follows or has read 540Rat's oil listings. Just curious if anyone has tried his new #1 which is Quaker State 5w30 Full Synthetic. Kind of bummed that Castrol 0w40 was pretty low on his list for wear protection. I usually run Motul Xcess 5w40 but going through a quart every 1,200-1,600 miles gets pricey when Walmart has decent oil. The newer Mobile Euro FS 0w40 had good results. I am not sure how much extra oil I'll be consuming switching to a 5w30 but I might try the Quaker State this go around unless anybody advises against it

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timken_OK_Load There may be very minor differences among oils that meet the same specs, but today's oils are all very similar so pick your favorite brand because you'll never know the difference. Like the Motul X-cess that you run, Castrol Edge 0W-40 meets Porsche A40 and MB229.3/229.5 specs which are the toughest specs in the industry. Quaker State is owned by Shell and uses the same base stocks as Pennzoil (GTL) so it's a good bang for the buck oil. Mobil 1 has started using GTL base stocks as well. Given that you have a 2008 FXT, I'd stick with a thicker oil like QS 5W-40 or Euro XW-30 if you want to try QS. I wouldn't run the standard API SP/ILSAC GF6 oil in an EJ. Again, compare oils that meet the same specs. Not what some clown with a machine from 1935 says. ![]() https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/th...atings.261190/ https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/th...rength.248661/ Last edited by bluesubie; 05-23-2023 at 03:02 PM. |

![]() Virgin oil pr0n.
This stuff has higher zddp and molly bedunum than i have ever seen. About double zddp from motul 300v and 200 higher moly ppm. VP Racing 10w40 Race Grade https://imgur.io/a/3so7wxy Has low detergents and relatively low TBN. Short interval for sure (6 mos 3k max for sure). Detergents have been implicated in detonation so im good with that. ![]() More expensive than columbian puro though. Last edited by 19std; 10-18-2023 at 10:22 PM. |
