Default 3.90 to 4.11 Rear Diff ??

95 Impreza AWD (1.8/5MT -3.90) Transfer is 1:1

Swapped in 95 EJ20G and TY752VB4AA (4.11)Trans

Dedicated RX car.

Need to do obtain the matching 4.11 rear diff, what options do I have?

1)Just replace Ring Gear/Pinion with 4.11 set?
Part #'s ?
Source?

2)Acquire used 4.11 rear diff?
Which model/YR donor vehicle would work?
Is there an axle difference? (I would assume so)
vLSD available?

3)Acquire a custom/rebuilt unit?
Are these available?
LSD?
Source?

4) Something I haven't thought of?

Looking for some quick help, need this item in rather short order.

Disclaimer: Yes...I have searched. Can't seem to find any definitive answers.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

You couldn't have searched too much. I've answerd this question 3-4 times this year alone.....

Find a 4.11 rear diff from any 2.5RS or non-turbo LGT and put it in your car. Get axles too if yours have spring pins holding them onto your diff (like the fronts). If they don't have pins, you should be able to use them. VLSD's came on some "LS" model Legacies and all 00-01 RS's.

For an aftermarket LSD, do another search as the info is very much available.

Thank You Mr Storm.

Now if any one else wants to offer a 50 yr old, non-computer savvy, enthusiast some additional info.....I'll graciously accept it.

If you have a 3.9 rear end, one option is to swap out the spider gear and pinion shaft of the 4.11 tranny with the 3.9 spider gear and pinion shaft.....

I am doing this in the next few weeks and doing a video of it. Takes about two hours WITH problems.

I have 4.11's in my 95 coupe with a vlsd. It is well worth the effort especially if you go to larger wheels and tires. Swapping the entire diff is by far the easiest/ cheapest option.

Just buy a Rear end with a 4.11 in it! much easier and less time consuming. Go on the for sale drivtrain thread. Alot of ppl selling the diff!

And ill buy your 3.9!!!
