Default 2013 Impreza Tune

Started a new thread for this so it doesn't get lost among other discussion in an ongoing 12+ thread. Its okay if you see my name and plate number...

Bill Knose from Delicious Tuning at Infamous Performance in San Diego (Escondido), CA performed the tune on a Mustang Dyno.

Reports are as follows:

Base 87
Tuned 87
Tuned 93
Combined Base/87/93

I cant give even an initial impression because the drive home was 98% highway. I had a bike in the back, subwoofer on the passenger seat, and other junk floating around. Didnt really want to do much other than get home. Will post impressions throughout the week? Filled from fumes on 91 to see what I feel.

Base 87

Tuned 87

Tuned 93

Combined Base/87/93

So you picked up about 7 HP with a step up to 93 and the tune. I wasn't following the 2012 thread very closely. Did you have an exhaust or anything else on your car, or was it just the tune?

It would be interesting to see what the "seat of the pants" test shows.

Is the drivability/throttle mapping better?

The line is definitely smoother with the 93 tuned run but damn, I was hoping to see more power from higher octane AND a tune.

I'm pretty sure the base line run was with all his mods already in place. All gains shown are directly from the tune.

And what exactly is getting tuned? It's not like there's turbo spool to fluctuate

Other than an axleback the car is stock. Even put the stock airbox back in instead of the CAI which would seemingly be negligible.

Take it for what it's worth. I know people were curious and these are the results.

Again, will post impressions throughout the week.

Found this for more info: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f5/t21178...-w-ecutek.html

Basically, everyone should put higher octane fuel in their car,

For 5-7 horsies my man grab a header or cat back and open the throat. I'm sure nonstock map voids warranty right

Don't think I can justify a tune at this point in time if the gains are that small (which is to be expect on a NA car).

Thanks Cal. That's what I was interested in. I wanted to see if you still had an exhaust or intake you were planning to do that would maybe add an extra pony or 2. So it seems the real test is going to come from driving it and seeing if there is any change to responsiveness.

Thanks for being the test pilot for it. At least those out there that are asking for more power will have some data to see what can be added.

Disappointing but I'm not surprised with no turbo.

So that tune cost roughly $350 for the tuner? (according to the one one in the link)

i contacted some tuners in the atlanta area and they never called me back with any solutions or prices. Not interested i suppose.

Correction $550 for a tune + tuning computer

If original mpg is in fact maintained, that is interesting, but wont this cause problems with altitude changes?

I'd be more interested in a tune to improve the CVT timing, so it doesn't have the "dead zones" that is has. From the XV forums, it seems like a tune can greatly improve these areas, which would be worth it to me. I could care less about HP gains

Why would it? Car will still see the density change and adjust accordingly.

My Buick after the tune got better mpg the higher I went.

On second thought. This is pretty awesome. San Diego is a bit far though.

That's a great adjust to the smoothness of the power and torque bands. Those dips in both are really annoying! I really like the boost in torque at the bottom of the powerband with peak torque throughout.

It just had some more info , and the comment was sarcasm about the results.
