COBB is a scummy group of shady people. They will take your money and sell you products that don't work.

Now you're running away from the claim that the OS platform inherently will cause damage? That was your first insane claim.

If OP is asking for this type of advice, we can easily infer THEY ARE NOT TUNING THE CAR THEMSELVES.

I like how you blow things our of proportion and take things way out of context.

My original comment was potential damage and somehow you see "inherent damage"

You may have Schizophrenia, or maybe your reading comprehension is really bad. Who knows.

What was taken out of context or blown out of proportion? You claimed Rom Raider has more potential for damage.

In case you forgot:

Quote:
I wouldn't recommend using Rom Rider unless you aren't concerned about potential permanent damage to the car.
Explain in plain English how one can cause damage with Rom Raider that can't be caused the same way or worse using Cobbs *more powerful* tuning software?

This is ignoring the fact that OP never claimed they would be tuning the car themselves, and given the questions they are asking in this thread, it is safe to assume they are NOT. And they haven't even logged into the forum in a year.

So how was your comment relevant to this discussion? Or did you just wanna be a Cobb stan and a know it all contrarian?

No $h1t people can break stuff with tuning software - its more likely OP breaks something using the AP they already have w/ Access Tuner vs the odds of OP potentially buying a Tactrix cable, modifying their map, and then blowing their motor.

Perhaps YOU shouldn't be using Rom Raider or tuning cars, but given OP was never planning to do that AS THE TITLE OF THE THREAD MENTIONS DIRECTLY - your comment is pure irrelevant fear mongering.

I forgot to address this gem last time:

Quote:
Using Rom Raider would require the user to have an understanding of a multitude of parameters. The margin for error is bigger.
This is proof you've never opened Rom Raider or Accesstuner and should not be giving anyone advice. Are you saying Cobb lacks those parameters (flex fuel not withstanding)? Cobb's software has WAY more parameters than the open source offerings available on our platform, and if judging by parameters alone (which is stupid) then the margin for error is WAY larger on an AP with the amount you can modify vs OS.

Silly comment is silly.

Forum posting 101: Don't feed the trolls

You're very troll-ish as well.

So far, your comments are unsubstantiated.

Goober, you said using Rom raider is more dangerous than using an access port to someone who is not tuning the car themselves.

not jumping in on this actual discussion,

but what did cobb brick?
do you mean the old AP's they used to sell?
I had one of those before my car got wrecked, and I sold the AP.
They can't disable those in any way can they?

Hi rtv,

No problem, this is a public forum.

THIEF SCAMMER FRAUD COBB sold a product, AP, then removed funtionality from it after the sale. They have a pattern of doing this without external pressures, research 2016 accesstuner issue.

They also sold hardware that they bricked ie flex fuel kits tgv kits. Shockingly, as im researching this response, they still sell.

See here: https://www.cobbtuning.com/products/...shaft-seal-kit

For sale as of 5/26/2023.

As for bricking stuff see here:

https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2787356

Edit: i will attempt to keep updating this date until they pull the product, or they dont, beacause they are a "Leader" in being money grubbing and shady af.

How all COBB customers feel:
https://www.reddit.com/r/WRX/comment..._speed_update/

So yeah substantiated as feck dawg, sugmadeck erricson COBB employee/sold account to a COBB lawyer.

My car had an opensource tune when I bought it, and it's now accessport tuned. And it hasn't caught fire anywhere that it wasnt designed to... yet

I used Shinji. He did a decent job. I think he may have a limit of 10 revisions before cutting you off though, as I think my car needed a bit more tweaking. Something between revision 8 and 9 caused feedback knock, but it's still completely in the normal amount, so it really doesn't matter i suppose

When I was shopping around for a tuner, it seemed cobb was the only real option. i already owned a taxctrix cable, but no one wanted to tune with that at the time, so i was kinda forced into cobb
