Default Toyota Corolla-based Suzuki Swace

Quote:
Suzuki's second model from partnership with Toyota is a sleek rebadged Corolla wagon – and could head Down Under

Suzuki has pulled the drapes off its all-new Swace – a rebadged version of the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports wagon that is available in Europe and Japan.

Following in the tyre tracks of the recently-revealed Suzuki Across, which is based heavily on the Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid, the new Swace wagon is understood to be on Suzuki Australia’s radar for a potential launch Down Under.

Like the new Corolla wagon, which is also under consideration for local import, the Suzuki Swace would line up against traditional small-medium load-luggers such as the Subaru Levorg, Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Golf.

With the rear seats upright, the Swace boasts a luggage capacity of 596 litres – 15 litres less than the latest Golf wagon.

Compared to the Corolla, the Swace has only a restyled grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, new LED headlights and a pair of revised tail-lights.

Inside, the Suzuki wagon is almost indistinguishable from its Toyota donor car, with the same multi-function steering wheel, digital instrument cluster and 8.0-inch infotainment system.

Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but heated seats and a heated steering wheel, plus wireless smartphone charging, appear on the options list.

A range of conventional and petrol-electric hybrid engines may be available to Suzuki Australia, as found across the Corolla range.

In Europe, the Swace will be sold with the familiar 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid powertrain that produces a modest 90kW.

That meagre power output translates to a pedestrian 11.1-second 0-100km/h sprint and a 179km/h top speed, but on the flipside it emits just 99g/km of CO2 and averages around 4.2L/100km.

A more powerful 2.0-litre hybrid is believed to have been ruled out for the Swace, in Europe at least.

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

wish the corolla wagon were offered in the USDM when we bought my wifes car (hatch), I probably wouldn't be in a sedan right now.

Hate to break it to you, the majority of the world just needs a reliable day-to-day commuter.

Does the world need a Suzuki badged Toyota? Probably not. Capitalism wouldn’t be much of a thing if we just built and bought what we needed.

Besides, someone with 4 largely redundant sport compacts and a rebadged BMW probably shouldn’t throw stones about what anyone needs.

I didn't see your post this morning due to all the ads on these threads.

Hummm, I read your post and trying to figure out whether you are trying to insult me or praise.. No need to reiterate as you know, I do not care.

However I still do not agree to releasing more junk in this world. At least give this demographic a nicer car at an affordable price point..was the point of my original post if you interpreted it a different way.
