Default Factory Five Racing to offer a Hypercar Kit - The F9R

Quote:
Two seat build-it-yourself sports car developed as our latest generation spaceframe chassis. Sub 2,400 lbs. target vehicle weight, 104″ wheelbase, 78″ body width, and 46″ overall height. Full carbon fiber body with clear coat finish. Production start estimate late 2020/Q1 2021.

At SEMA 2019, the prototype chassis is shown with a 750 HP V12LS engine that makes 700 lb.-ft. torque and displaces 9.5L!

The chassis will accept small block Ford crate engines and modular Ford Engines as well as the LS-series of engines… and now this exciting V12 American power plant.

That car looks awesome, stupid, ridiculous, grand theft auto video game’ish. It’s like a hodgepodge or different cars thrown together and I want one.

Better looking than any of their past stuff. I feel like they really dropped the ball on the 818 design. There were so many good entries on their design contest and then they end up picking their own design, which looked pretty lame to me.

I’ve also always felt like their fit/finish on the real cars is lacking and screams “kit car”. It will be interesting to see if a wild design like this translates well to real life...

Interesting that it was designed by the same guy who did the Saleen S7

Agreed. After they selected their own design I came to the realization that they were never going to pick someone else's design and that the whole public input thing was just a scam to get everyone excited about the project.

Yeah, that was my take on it too and that didn’t sit well with me at all.

The fit and finish will likely still be rather poor but it will look cool from a distance or at night.

This. I have 818 chassis #15. It's been sitting for 3 years, mechanically it's done, body is 80% done...just piss poor design and manufacturing. Driver side fender is 1/2" longer than the passenger fender. FFR's response? Just push panels around until they line up.

I like certain aspects of the car, but overall that's a no.

That's BS.

Personally, I think that RCR is a much better route to go for a kit car.

I would really like to see them update the Superlite Coupe, but even as is, it's still a great looking car and appears to have much better build quality than anything FFR makes.

RCR made the 28 cars used in Ford vs Ferrari.

I saw that. I think they actually make a lot of cars for different movies.

This looks great. Whoever said it looks like grand theft auto was spot on.

If I went factory five though, it'd be a cobra replica.

Is it blasphemy that I thought that (the 575 gtc) was a kit car before googling it? Because I feel like it's blasphemy
