Is that green "teflon" coating on new Suby engines on the pistons or the cylinder walls?
And correct me if I'm wrong ... it's suppose to help protect against piston slap on the boxer engine? Thanks ... [email protected]

Well done, lots of great stuff in there!
I'm rebuilding a stock NA ej251 with OEM pistons and rings and would like to know what is a good approach for determing the proper fit of the oil expander ring? Should it have a similar gap as the oil rails? I have the sensation the tension from the expander ring is a little high and the gaps from the oil rails can be seen on the cylinder walls when dropping in the pistons. Any help would be much appreciated! |

Just got my Manley 100mm 612005-c pistons in and wanted to post the weights.
Pretty close weights. I’ll weigh the wrist pins tomorrow. 416.8 grams 416.2 416.6 416.1 |

Hi,
I am new and trying to understand navigation of the site/forums, etc. I'm looking to get some info on repairing/replacing the engine of a 2005 Saab 9-2x, which is just a Subaru WRX, four-door wagon, with a 2.5L Linear. Everything under the hood is Subaru. Although, I'm sure you are familiar. It recently has been diagnosed as having a blown head gasket, after initially thinking it was the water pump(water pump and timing belt replaced). It still cranks and runs, etc. The crazy part of it all is how ironically good the engine is-to it's own detriment. Now, in hindsight I realize the issue came to a head after running for over a year, with no overt symptoms/signs of not having any fluid in the system; until eventually and finally beginning to stall the engine, once hot enough, in order to save itself. However, it was too late. Any information on most affordable parts, best sources, options, ideas or best way to seek buyers for a good fixer upper, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |
