Visiting the West Coast, What to do in Seattle/Portland
Hello West Coasters! I am planning a trip in May with some friends to come skiing at Timberline at Mount Hood in OR. I'm thinking of flying out early with a couple of my friends to visit Seattle and Portland for 4 or 5 days before skiing. What would you all recommend doing while I'm out there? I'm obviously into cars/driving (saw Dirtfish...looks tempting), skiing, photography, beer & brewing, golf, sailing, and sightseeing in general.
I've been poking around and I already know some time will be dedicated to visiting breweries. Do you have any suggestions on which tours are best? Thanks!

Stevens pass for skiing then go to Leavenworth for the beer, then use the I90 route going home to see the Snoqualmie pass for more skiing the whole trip is pretty good for sightseeing and taking pics.

I would go to Red Hook.
There's also a brewery at Pike Place Market. You can go to space needle as well. If you go to Dirtfish, there's also the Snoqualmie brewery that's pretty close by |

I would love to ski multiple mountains while I'm out there! I really want to get a good West coast skiing experience, since I've only ever skied East coast. Any idea if they run bus trips to the mountains in WA? Might try to get by in Seattle without renting a car.
Red Hook is a must. I'll keep a running list of breweries to visit |

Ignore all those other WA resort suggestions (sorry folks) and point yourself towards Mt. Baker...
Current world record holder for single season snowfall (98/99)and it's easily the highest resort in the state with the widest selection of terrain. They might even have the giant banked slolom course up when you visit (Super Bowl weekend I think). Redhook is ok, deffinatly a local landmark, but if you're a real brew-head, look up Elysian brewery, Pike brewery, both in Seattle, and also the Rogue brewery in PDX. Highway 101 will take you waaaaay out of the way to Portland, but is the scenic, twisty way South, my choice if time was no object. |

Regarding bus trips to the passes, it has been several years now since I've done it, but there used to be a bus and shuttle that would take you from the greyhound station downtown to either stevens or snoqualmie. Unfortunately, I'm totally out of that loop, so I don't have any handy links in that regard.
