Another Subie Intake question...
I have been checking sources and the posts on this question, but I had several things that would factor in my decision in upgrading my car.
I like Cobb Cold air intake alot, but i have been unable to find anything that will tell me what the gains are. I also was interested in AEM's intake as well. I don't know as much about their gains, in fact it was just suggested to me from another i-clubber. There was another cold air intake, i forgot the name right now, but it bolts on to the factory airbox. I just wanted to make sure that these will fit my 2002 2.5rs and they will NOT get in the way of a whiteline tower bar. If I could get some feed backany any of these products or others that you like please feel free to say so. Thanks a bunch! -Chris

The COBB one gives quite a gain.. I dyno'd my car with a COBB and an exhaust and I got good numbers over stock for hp and torque... The one that connects to the stock box is the Larry Ganz one, its cheap.. like $60, but you get what you pay for IMHO....
They should both clear the tower bar, since the cobb takes up much less room than the stock box. The AEM I heard had some 'issues' but I'm not sure... Korey |

For around $50, you can get a nice polished 3" PDM intake that bolts easily on to the factory airbox. This intake sounds pretty nice and loud under load:
Installation is a breeze. Check out PDM Racing for more info. -- Richard http://www.whitetyphoon.com/impreza/ |

Just got my pdm intake in the mail today. Very nice looking piece for $50. Mirror polish, logo, and nice blue connectors.

The GanzFlow is quite nice, and combined with a K&N filter element in the stock airbox, gives a very nice improvement in performance. If you want the extra 2hp and have $200 burning a hole in your pocket, get the Cobb intake, it's very nice. If you want 90% of the gain at 40% of the cost, get the GanzFlow. Ben |

I also recommend the Ganzflow. I switched from a tube style with a filter at the end. I'm not going to say which one...but the Ganz is beautiful and you can feel the gains all around. I would also recommend keeping the stock airbox because without it, you lose all of your low end torque. I don't care what anybody says, but it's the truth.

PDM!
I've got a PDM intake - probably the 2nd person in the world to get one. Love it to pieces! Best N/A intake IMO. Don is excellent to deal with! You won't be disappointed!

The Cobb fits the 02 no problem. I got confirmation on this from Cobb when I inquired about it about a month ago. Also, there was a pic a few weeks back of someones 02 with it installed. Everything looked kosher.
Compass Motorsports is releasing an intake soon that has a lot of peoples' panties in a bunch. The gains are impressive, and I myself and keeping an ear out to see how the first production run goes. The prototype gains can be seen at Compass Motorsports under "new products". Great hp improvement without killing low-end torque. Like the Cobb, it is an expensive unit, but if it can produce the gains than why not? I believe they will be between $275 and $300 when completed. There's a few threads about the intake as well. Do a search for "compass intake". As it's been said before though, Cobb and Ganz have the best reputations around here. I'm still up in the air about all of this myself, but thought you might like to know about a third option. |
