17 vs 18RA
Yep. The difference in the ride feel between my 17 STI and 18 RA is the most noticeable change in the overall driving experience between the two cars. the RA is every bit as firm but much less jarring. I was concerned about the 19's but the RA has a much smoother ride. Also less road noise, much quieter better insulated interior (I actually miss the turbo and intake noise coming from upfront). Coupled with the torque increase on the low end, and the clutch takeup, it is actually a much better every day driver than a stock car. (although i've had mine for 5 weeks and only have 200 miles on it and have already gone muffler delete )

What mounts are in the RA? It must be updated from the 2015-17's. I've been meaning to update to Group-N/Perrin mounts, but I get contrasting views about daily drivability harshness.

Stick with Group N unless race car. The harsher bushings have way too many trade offs if you daily driver your car. The noise alone will drive you nuts sooner or later.

So, now it's official, MY2019 WRX STI has the same engine and tranny combo as the Type RA.

Series Gray is at $39695 and it has the same engine, transmission, and Bilstein suspension as the Type RA Still would love to see a comparison between the regular STi vs Type RA. |

It's not going to be as expensive as a Type RA but it's still going to be too much money for what it is. Best bet is to get a good deal on a regular MY2019 and get an aftermarket suspension setup if need be. The Recaros from the Series Gray would be nice, but, then again, is it really worth added markup? |

Dealer in Anchorage, Alaska, didn't add any additional mark-up on the two RAs they've had. If there is a dealer marking things up, go elsewhere.
I live in Alaska and bought my Impreza in Kent, WA. If I can do it, along with so many others, y'all in the Lower 48 can cross shop elsewhere. No need to be stuck with whatever the dealer says. |

Ugh! That's insane. It's worth driving to a different state for a good price. If you research in advance, schedule for clear bra installation right after you pick up the car, or just buy some temporary film to place on the car just to drive it back home. It's quick and easy, although the car won't look beautiful with it on, but will look perfect back home.
Better than paying $15k extra. 2019 STI Limited with the optional packages is close to RA pricing anyway. |

I eventually paid $500 off MSRP for my black RA that I found on Autotrader sitting at a small dealership that didn't even know what it was.
This is after I had one on order with an implied deal for MSRP from a high volume dealer. When the car came in the dealer decided they wanted a $5k markup to give it to me. I definitely would have waited for a Series Grey STI if I had known about them last month. I absolutely LOVE that color (especially with black wheels), and it checks the exclusivity box with only 250 units being made. I might actually end up trading the RA in on one if I can get my money back on it. It sounds like it has has the same drivetrain with all the RA performance goodies including the ultrasuede steering wheel. The only thing missing being the carbon fiber roof, wing, and #'d plaque. I would not be surprised if all 19's get the vented rear bumper. |

If I liked Yellow, or more importanly, if I could stand the awful Bugeye look, I would choose a Blaze Yellow over Sonic Yellow.
Not arguing any sort of "collectibility". "Collectibility" is up to an individual and what they want and willing to do to get it. Take SubieGal for example. If I had a choice of a free STI or Stanley. I would take Stanley without a second thought. Or this 1978 BRAT sitting on our showroom floor. Just saying. Some don't care. Some do. |
