Default 2019 WRX any info yet?

Has anything been announced on the release date for the 2019 WRX? I’m looking to trade my 17 Forester Touring in but not sure if I should wait. Any info would be appreciated

EJ25 and EZ36 are thankfully 'dead' for 2020 on (2019 on in Japan).
High high time, but the FA/FB series are too little too late anyway.

https://ganbaremmc.exblog.jp/26209762/

Crude translation:
***9679; The 3.6-liter 6-cylinder engine used in the "Outback / Legacy 3,6Rs" for overseas markets ends with the current model,
and the replacement will be a unified 4 cylinders boxer engine shared with other Subaru models
**likely FA16, 20 and maybe 2.4 DITs depending on market and trim**

***9679; "Ascent" will not be using the six-cylinder engine either, in any trim. Only the already (now) known F* platform 2.4 liter econobox DIT engine.

***9679; EJ type engines installed in WRX STIs (aka STIs beyond Japan) are also retired. Next model is based on F* platform engines.

***9679; Diesel engine is retired.

For the lazy:

Think they said redesign was to be either the 2020 or 2021 model year. Typically Subaru re-designs every 5-6 model years and does a re-fresh/re-style about half way through the current model

I don't recall anything "said" by SC. I've seen some leaked production tables that don't necessarily mean much; but, that's it. When I ask, all I get is "a while".

Don't they usually prefer to announce things at the New York International Auto Show for the next model year? That's at the end of this month. 2020 should be the new FA in the sti though is my thought. Hopefully.

'17 Forester!? Wait for the next gen WRX. If the world starts to rotate in reverse, Superman style, we might also get a wagon. In case you fear you might miss that Fozzy practicality.

I get the idea behind the big push to downsize and turbocharge engines but I don't believe in dropping the H-6.

They should've just revised the current H-6 and kept it for higher trim Outback and Ascent models. The 4 banger just doesn't compare to the grunt of the 6 cylinder and it would be a nice feature to have on those higher trims.

You've driven the 2.4?

So I went to the dealer today and am beginning the stages of a 19 WRX preorder. Not much info yet, but he did say they are no longer taking 18 orders, so it could be weeks or months.

Probably exactly same like 2018 or extremely minor upgrade.
Possibly eyesight for premium???
I won’t be surprised if there is no Apple CarPlay and android option

That's cool - gives me hope that maybe the 2020 MY will launch spring/mid summer 2019. Seems like if the 2020 MY was going to be fall/late 2019 they would start spacing out the 2018MY so it wouldn't be 1.5 years of 2019MY.

Are you worried about loss in value on the WRX once the new platform WRX launches? Seems like it'll drop a couple thousand in resale when that happens since the handling will be so much better.

Most of us would hope it doesn't, as retaining value has (so far) been one of the pros of owning a WRX/STI.

I don't remember the GV/GR value dropping when the VA came out.

Placed an order on a 19 few weeks ago. I only did it because they said it's getting upgraded. In Canada btw.

They’ve been pretty decent with keeping prices in check up here since we don’t have option packages. If it does I doubt it’ll be high considering they have to entice people to buy an old car when it’ll get the SGP and new engine just around the corner.

I still believe that new next gen SGP WRX will be 2021 model so spring of 2020 instead of spring of 2019. Spring 2019 for SGP outback and Fall 2019 for SGP legacy. That's my prediction.
