Do you have to go back to the shop you bought the car from, or can you just make an appointment with any dealership?

If your car is covered by this recall you should be getting the notice in the mail any day, if you haven't already. Those who are not the original owners can check with a dealer or SOA directly to see if their car is affected.

not going to bother getting it fixed as i usually don't use the cruise control anyway. You can take it to any dealership to get that recall fixed though...

It doesn't matter if you use the cruise or not. According to the recall the cable can become jammed in the lever even when the cruise is not in use. The clip that is installed to correct it will keep the cable in the track.

i haven't gotten it done, but why should i wait 1/2 hr for some dude to put it on when i could do it myself in less than 5 mins? i should see if a dealer could just give me the darn thing.

I would prefer that as well, since it isn't convenient for me to make an appointment to have it done and I won't be doing so any time soon. However I doubt that is an option due to liability issues, if they hand you the part there is no proof it will be installed correctly or at all.

I tried it last week. They wouldn't let me do it, so I went to my dealership early in the morning and had coffee and a donut while they took 15 minutes to clip it in, no big deal.

I got the letter last week and I think I'm gonna make an appt. with Town Motors since I think Liberty will F me over because of my mods.

STi is totally different because it is drive-by-wire. The recall is for a throttle cable problem.
Infamous- since this is an official recall they can't refuse to perform the service because you have mods. As long as the part affected is unmodded (throttle arm and cruise cable) they have to do it.

The recall concerns the CC cable possibly coming loose and locking the throttle in place. If you removed the CC and disconnected the cable, then you should be fine. If the CC cable is still connected, then I would go in to have them install the clip.
