The prototype was caught running with camouflage, which indicates the car is wearing its final body panels.

On the front, the headlights are connected to the grill by the 'wing'; the return of the 3rd window on the side

Crosstrek has been a winner for quite some time. They need to be careful not to mess up the styling that made it so successful.

The good: very similar body style. 2018+ models won't look too outdated
The bad: presumably a single 11" infotainment system. No HVAC knobs
The uknown: engine + MT?

we don't know. if they use the 2.5 as the base engine, what would the secondary engine be. possible 1.8 turbo

The cladding on this Crosstrek looks like the Wilderness Edition ones but with the WRX lazy lame vents. And they’ll list it as one of the “new exciting features” which is EXCLUSIVE to the Crosstrek Wilderness Flannel Sport Adventure Outdoor Cabela’s trim.

Maybe he's referring to the wheel well openings.

The Crosstrek wheel well openings appear round like the current car and the slap on plastic pieces are hex shape at the tops.

The WRX wheel well openings are hexagonal. It's easiest to tell from the Levorg.

Yes this. It should be the other way around with the CUV getting hexagonal wheel openings and the WRX/Levorg round. Are they just pulling design cues out of a hat?

Not sure. You would have to ask Subaru why they are going against the grain. Hexagonal wheel openings are an SUV styling cue as you see them on all sorts of SUV's like the Rav4, X3, Tuscon, etc. Subaru is appears to be doing a 180 with the car getting the SUV wheel openings and the SUV getting traditional round wheel openings.
