agreed, feel free to move it to any other existing threads about the official GD STI production figures that were just released this month by subaru and how many GD's are still out there out of the 25,000 produced over the original 4 years and how that attrition rate is going to now influence GD STI' values now that Subaru has made those production numbers public this month. GD STI have attained collector level status, expect prices to balloon quickly over the next few months.

This thread was started to discuss the 2004-2007 STI newly released information, and relative to that to discuss how many GD STI's have survived out of the originally 25,000+ produced. So this is where we should be discussing it, since the STI is subaru's flagship performance car and how the Hagerty article has elevated the 2004-2007's as legitimate collector level investments. I sometimes regret not having my STI any longer, the value of it as a saleable item doesn't cross my mind when I regret not having it any longer.
it was a fun car to drive. |

Do you guys think GR and VAB chassis will also go up in value in 15-25 years due to being the same drivetrain as GD ? like becoming an "old school" Subaru collector's car as well

Interesting numbers! Every time I turn around I'm seeing some article by a journalist super inflating the prices of everything though...I guess if you have the coin it's great...but I'd be looking at a new car at some of these prices...and I've greatly enjoyed and still enjoy my car...just being honest.

STI-versions yes, but the GD was the first hi-po Subaru imported and as such will hold a more sentimental place in automotivedom.

good original GD's will double in value over the next 3-5 years, 27,000-30,000++ will be common prices,

2016 I sold my 2006 GG wagon, original owner, original engine and trans, 260k miles, for $5000. I thought that was good even back then. Makes me wonder what it would have brought if i was selling it now.

maybe 500-1000 more, thats high mileage and cars with that many miles haven't gone up as much as low mileage good condition examples have this year.

My 2004 is still my daily driver with 165k on it. Bought new with 4mi on odo.
I swapped the wing for the WRX lid in '05, so that probably won't help the value, nor the mileage. And the drunken moron who hit me last year ruined what had been a body in great condition. Last year insurance told me actual cash value was $12k. I was stunned, but that was reasonably consistent with examples for sale online. With used car values skyrocketing this year I looked again...now valued between $6-$8k. 50% drop in a year where most others went up by 50%. So I'd love to hit collectible status. It's now a personal challenge to nurse it to 20 years. |

Just hit 130K on my GD. Still running solid except for the upper rad hose getting ripped up by the fan and spraying that **** everywhere last week

I'm really curious with all of the scrappers. I asked one if he kept track of the number he has killed, he claims he doesn't.

Almost wish I had kept my 2006 WRX Wagon and done the STI drivetrain swap I knew was inevitable (5mt was very unhappy at 1xxk miles, having been stage 2 from 60k & mercilessly beaten on the back roads). But hindsight is 20:20; I would have been pissed when it grenaded & needed a tow, and swore all weekend long while doing the swap in my garage dealing with a bunch of frozen/corroded bolts.

Clickety clickety clickety...About $12k. "So you want to total it and pay me $12k instead of the $4k to repair it?!?" So no, not totalled. Quote:
A couple of months ago it got a pinhole leak. Replaced the upper hose. Didn't want to get too close to that pulley again so gave it some extra space. Fan rubbed a hole in it. Had to replace it again. |

Mine is a 2005 STi Crystal Gray Metallic that just turned 12K original miles; bought it from first owner with 2,300 miles in 2009. Every time I drive it I smile like a little kid.
