Default Replacing 12v center console jack with headunit USB passthrough?

I want to replace the 12v jack in the center console in a 2009 STI with a USB passthrough that connects directly to my head unit.

The only thing I am unsure about is the best way to get rid of the 12v jack. I was thinking maybe snipping the wires and taping off with electrical tape at the 12v jack end, or pulling the fuse (if only is only dedicated to the 12v center console jack since I want to keep the one under the radio) instead of electrical tape.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Most lighters/power outlets have a plug in harness close by. Don't cut wires if possible, just unplug it and maybe cover in E-tape.

Yes that sounds better then. Any special tools needed to get out of the plugin harness?
