What charges could he file? What do you mean by "If you dont follow them to make a statement"?

Besides, people can be crazy and you never know if they'll have a gun or something bigger to throw back

all these stories about road rage made me remember about the incident with a friend of mine when he was driving to work... not going through full details.

friend was on the 64 west going to his job while driving a white brand new full size gmc work van. He noticed a integra was tailing him so he did the normal brake checks but it didn't fade the other driver. after the brake checks didn't work, he found a bunch of gravel on the shoulder which he drove through kicking all onto the integra. the driver of the integra got beside of the van on the drivers side and the passenger chucked a 32oz slurpee at the van, the slurpee entered the window " which was down " and hit the driver of the van directly in the face with slurpee going everywhere. van driver picked up a pair of over sized vise grips and chucked it back hitting the hood and cracking the front windshield.

to tell you the truth, i would not have handled the situation like the OP did. i woulda been pissed, and depending on traffic i would have gotten out of my car and bitched slapped the old lady or done something retarded. i has teh road rage bad, especially against old people that cant drive.

I would pay money to see this.

A+ and will read again.

This is also why I drive a $700 truck to work. Most people must think it can't stop, or that it will blow up if movements occur too fast next to or in front of me. I did notice that alot of people on 270 seemed to be getting bent out of shape this morning too.

You def did the right thing by calling. People apologize all the time for calling about things like that, but that's our job to go check out. The officer would have checked the area, and if he could find a violation of law, would probably have made a traffic stop. Chances are with Fairfax and the amount of traffic they have, it took 10-15 minutes before an officer got out there to even check for the car, at which point she's long gone.

He could actually go get an aggressive driving warrant against her. Because he's the victim of the aggressive act, it's pretty much like an assault. Now, I've only ever seen 1 in court, and really believe the driver got convicted was because the victim was an off duty officer, who knew the driver from a previous traffic stop.

I couldn't hold myself back when he called me the day of the incident, just started laughing. Went over to his house and found him cleaning the interior of his brand new van that had roughly 63 miles on it.

Here you would go to jail for that. It's considered a projectile or something along those lines. There are cases where people have gone to jail in this area for doing the exact same thing or a cup of coffee/soda.

A lot of the older members know me and to be honest I have become very mild compared to what I used to be. I am more laid back than ever before and always try to drive smart even though my license plate would lead people to think otherwise. Not saying I am perfect but damn the drivers around here have gotten a 1000x times worse than I ever remember. Hell I don't even recall driving as aggressive as most of the people on the road now-a-days.

I had 2 situations in 1 day where I had my Wife and Friend in my car. I made the wrong turn into the Walmart parking lot in Kingstowne. So while creeping through the pedestrian crossing this ******* decides I am going to slow (there is an elderly lady in front of me with a walker) and countless parents and kids all the day after Christmas. So he decides to pass me and flick me off. So I proceeded to lay on the horn as he almost takes out my front bumber nearly taking out pedestrians at the same time and then he creeps going absolutely nowhere on purpose. This is a time where I guess I should be thankful to have a great wife and a damn good friend. The only thing I wanted to do was get outta the car and beat his ass as he keeps throwing his hands up at me like I am the one in the wrong and his countless comments. I went proceeded to our current destination still uberly heated but also thankful that I wouldn't be spending a day or more in jail for almost killing a man. As we are walking in at the Kohls we see him driving around looking for us presumably and then head back into the Walmart parking lot. I don't think he would have wanted to find me because he would have gotten a lot more than he bargained for. The worst part he was driving a Subaru granted it was an old Legacy.

Then about an hour or two later we are traveling down Backlick towards 236 and there is an ******* in a RL behind me riding my ass and flashing his high beams at me. I am going 10 over the speed limit and didn't even realize it. I couldn't switch lanes even if I wanted too because there were 2 cars beside me. Next thing you know he is almost a part of my rear bumper as he is changing lanes and then passes us giving finger. My friend and I look at each other and just laugh it off then he cuts me off only to turn 1/8 mile up in front of me into a townhouse subdivision. I swear some people just need a swift kick in the ass at times....

You handled it better than I would have. I get road rage bad. I admit I drive aggresive, but I never put anyone in danger or act like an ass, unless of course your in the 3rd lane going the speed limit or less and refuse to move after I've been there for a while.

IMO the worst drivers are those that refuse to follow merge/yield signs and think that you HAVE to let them over. In reality they are the reason it takes all of us (that go my route to work) an extra 10 minutes to get to work. If those dumbasses would get over in time we could all keep going 60-70mph, but no they can't wait behind another car for even a few seconds.

DO NOT THROW SOMETHING AT THEM!!! I've nearly done that several times myself, but I read on another board that it's considered a class 6 felony to throw anything at a moving vehicle (makes sense since you could cause the driver to wreck).

So, do you think it's worth pursuing as a general rule? Or just likely to end up with nothing happening?

Learn something new every day...so much for chucking my cup of coffee at the woman who cuts me off on a weekly basis while having her morning cell phone chat.

My boyfriend's boss has been known to throw anything from cheeseburgers to faucets and everything in between.

I think it would be very hard to obtain the warrant for someone who's not a LEO. Unless you personally knew the person who was driving, it'll be hard to prove the person driving the car was in fact the registered owner.

The problem with letting someone hit you to prove a point is that you then have to get the car fixed. That means stopping and talking to the dumbass, and exchanging information. It also means waiting for the cops, provided she doesn't move from her spot, to prove that it's her fault. Just... too much damn paperwork and frankly, frustration, to let someone hit you.

You did the right thing by avoiding. It may have been frustrating as hell to "let her win" but you just saved yourself a whole lot of aggravation.
