As always it was good to see everyone today.
Looked like everyone was having fun.
Mild weather, not much dust, a big variety of cars. Pretty good day.

I took some pictures after lunch. I put some on the RX Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Washi...7685?sk=photos

The full 150+ pics are here
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=833dfb8ed2

If you see some you like feel free to re-host them or message me for the originals. I might delete the album in the future so save them now.

Congrats Josh! I think you got first on M4, didn't you??? Thats awesome!

Shawn, I have a question for you. I saw the BMW guys downshifting to first. Does he RX7 needs to do that? Or are you able to keep enough speed to have to avoid that?

As to "the BMW guys" we are all over the place. The guys in the blue ETA have really short gearing and a low rev limiter (like 4500, IIRC), so they actually may have been going into 3rd sometimes. Also there are 4 guys driving that car, and they all drive wildly different styles.

For me, I usually stay in 2nd, but since I have no power in my little M10 I was getting killed my first couple runs in those hairpins and bogging out of them, so started dropping into 1st (which also helped me rotate through them). I was having some traction problems getting on it too hard though, with the rally tires on that concrete clay.

I rode with Stuart (who had the silver 318is) and I don't recall him going into 1st ever, but he has alot more power in his M42 than I have, so he may not need to. When I drove his car on 3 runs, I stayed in 2nd all the time since that car has way more low-end grunt than mine.

Interesting in seeing the MR standings. I know on the rough results I was in 1st, but Shawn should be ahead in the final since it was calculating his one run as 999 seconds, lol. I'll be happy if I pulled off 2nd, since that would be about as much as I can hope for right now in that class.

Downshifting - I don't do it much. For this event if I managed to stay on the course (and on line) I stayed in second. If I got way off line and bogged down in the sandtraps or the grass I would downshift to 1st to swing the rear back around and would go right back to second.

That's a nice shot of someone going the wrong way around a cone.

I had an awesome time over the weekend and can't wait until the next time. It was my first time and here is what I learned:

#1 Everyone was super laid back and helpful so being a noob was quite alright. Thank you to the instructors for putting the school together. It was really helpful for the first time competitor. Also thanks to everyone that did ride alongs on Saturday as the pointers helped out too.

#2 hit fewer cones. I put down some alright times...if I subtract the penalties . My fastest run of the day was the one where I just tried to be smooth on the throttle and not hit any cones.

#3 I got dead last in my class so its all up from here!

Just wanted to say I had an awesome time this past weekend. This was my first rallycross. I was in my old 99 Hyundai Accent (now owned by Andy Thomas). I had a total blast, and I'll be back!
