BRZ brakes
Thinking about a '17 BRZ.
I see upgraded Brembos are now an option...are they worth it for a non track car? How have the standard brakes been on BRZ's so far? Asking, because the brakes on my 02 wrx have always kind of sucked. Upgraded pads, stainless lines, and can't trigger abs on clean pavement. I see the standard rotors on the BRZ are larger than what I have on the wrx, and the BRZ is lighter, so they should work better.

The regular BRZ brakes are good. I've upgraded the rotors to drilled front, slotted rear with street/track pads and braided lines. All the upgrades made a HUGE a difference in braking quality. Any Brembos I have had on bikes and my STI were awesome; but with as light as the BRZ is I don't know that they will make a huge difference over the upgrades that are available.
That said, I want a '17 !!! Ha ha ha. The upgrades to the suspension and the computer on the sport package I think will, all around, make enough of a difference to make it worth it. My .02¢ |

For the street, the BRZ brakes are waay better than a WRX. I added a master cylinder brace, upgraded pads (pMu HC+800s) with Centric blanks for the track (Palmer, Thompson, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock) and have had no issues. Only one of the tracks (Thompson) I go to is considered brake intensive so I've been fine with this setup.

If not tracking and you are the type of person tends to modify their car don't bother with the performance pack. Just a standard 17 BRZ will have the software update. The stock brakes are solid. If you are going to do coil overs the Sachs Dampers become pointless.

The stock brakes are fantastic, just change the fluid and pads. I am still tracking on my stock calipers, with pads and fluid upgraded (Ferodo DS2500 and Motul RBF600) and in 20 minute sessions in the AZ heat and no brake fade at all.

Yeah, fot stock power, the only reasons for upgrading brake would be: looking and long-term saving on pads if the car sees a lot track days.

The only difference I see Between the two models are wheel size. 2015 17x7 The 2017 is 17x7.5. Hugs are the same for both as well. Will this swap work and has anyone done this swap yet. Any help would be appreciated thanks......... |

Stock vs Brembo upgrade (Performance Package Brembos)
Any one who tells you the the stock brakes are great, even with SS lines, 660 fluid and pads has not driven with Brembos. I had a 2013 BRZ LIMITED and did all that. Bought a 2017 with PP Brembos. A 150% improvement. I recently installed Giant Brembos,DBA ROTORS and Hawk pads on my 2017 and KW Coils. 42’ improvement at 80 mph. The reason why I changed is the I hit a ladder on the Florida Turnpike at night and and was doing 80 and saw it far enough ahead and hit it at 15mph because I could not stop in time. Had an 18 wheeler on left and car on the right.
