Default Raw fuel smell/leak when cold, where did Chicago ppl get theres fixed?

This past week I started experiencing the raw fuel smell problem when we hit single digits. Read up on the problem, and yup I have a fuel leak right under the intake manifold like everyone else.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131755

I thought they fixed this problem after 02, but mine definately has it.

What Chicago area Subaru dealer did you take yours to get fixed? Did they charge you, and did you have to get a claim from SOA first?

Had the problem with my '03. Took it to Worden-Martin Nissan/Subaru in Champaign. They contacted their Subaru rep and they agreed to do a "good faith" repair on my car, since it is way outside of warranty. They ordered 3 sets of new rubber hoses and clamps. I'm not sure which ones they replaced specifically, but it seems to have fixed the problem.

The dealership and Subaru rep did not care that the car is modded or tuned. They said they don't care as long as it didn't seem like the mods caused the leak, which they didn't.

Bottom line was $0, but two weeks without the car.

I'll give them a try. I am missing my GBODs though when I the injectors for a turbo swap. That was about 3yrs ago.

I had the same thing, I was freaking out but I really didn't notice it till I was half way to work and no other cars around me so I figured it was me.. Subaru Dealer told me fuel clamps under intake manifold. And of coarse they didnt have the intake gaskets. So I got to work and looked at it and I have the Perrin turbo tube installed (THANK GOD!!!) It made it so much easier. Pull it out and fuel lines are right underneath. I took off the power steering line right above the intake tube to make it easier to remove the tube. Reinstalled everything now I have NO POWER STEERING worst than manual steering..... The only thing that I can think of is that I have an air pocket in the line somewhere and it is not coming out. I consulted my Subaru manuel and found out that I have to bleed the system a specific way. Definately not like a Toyota (by the way I am a Toyota Technician).

I had the same problem on my 04 and am away from home. A dealership in mn told me $600 minus parts. Needless to say i wasnt gonna pay that and it still smells like fuel until the car warms up...

I'm having this same problem and am having my car, an '03, checked out tomorrow. I sure hope they don't try to charge me $600. I called Subaru of America for mine and they said there hasn't been a recall on them but that there was a notification sent out to Subaru owners, apparently it's different. So I have a claim that they're allegedly going to look into and talk to the Subaru dealer about and I will most likely have to pay them which sucks.

I was just noticing this the other day and remembered the thread from a while ago. Problem I have is that I can't find time to take the car to the dealer to have them check it out and *hope* that they'll do it for free.

Dylan needz to hop in here and tell us how much hookers and blow it'll take to fix it.

What exactly does the $40 consist of? Tightening something? Replacing something? I read the first page of the thread and decided 48 pages was FAR too much for me to bother skimming through. I thought I read that something usually needed to be tightened but I could be wrong.

Really thats it? I was just on the HUGE 94 page thread and did everything they said (call SOA, arrange a dealer visit, call them back and tell them when and where etc etc) my dealer visit is tomorrow morning they said it would cost me 125 just for them to "look" at it....then he went in to saying if its the clamps they'll tighten them but if its anything else...parts could get up into the 300 to 400 dollar range... I would MUCH rather have a nasioc vendor do this than the damn dealer especially if it will save me money....when could I get my 02 in? Let me know... THANKS!
