Get a 10mm flare nut wrench!!! Spray some WD40 on the hard-line connection before attempting to loosen the nut. When you're done, just bleed in the correct order, front right, rear left, front left, rear right. You can go out and slam on the brakes to cycle the ABS if you want afterwards and re-bleed.

Make sure its a GOOD flare nut wrench too, I've seen some really crappy thin ones that will flex like crazy. Craftsman pro, snapon, napa pro are good, pretty much any of the "Professional" line tools that are built stout. Besides its only one wrench you need, and if you DO round off the nut, you'll be replacing a very spendy hard line anyway.
I got a $12 Napa Pro one, its pretty beefy and forged. Took all 4 lines off with absolutely 0 rounding. |

Check out Oakos.com. That's where I got my speedbleeders. Great vendor.

I've done 2 stainless brake line in stalls trying to use a good flare nut wrench. Based off that experince it didn't work and i used plenty of WD-40. the best tools that worked for me where a crows foot,(for the hard line stabality), a pair of robo grips, and a good friend. i'm no pro but almost every mod i've done on my wrx there is always some major challange to over come. So with all this babling i wish you good luck on the install.

I got Goodridge lines and SS Speed Bleeders from Teauges Automotive.
http://home.att.net/~teaguesauto/ If you get the bleeders don't over-tighten them. Others have broken them this way. Make sure you get all the old washers off the connections before you install the new ones. One new copper washer on each side of the joint. Follow all the supplied instructions. -MIQ |
