Just wanted to say that this is most likely covered in the manifesto. But, if your like me, yout yoo lazy to read.

I have the Sirius box and a set of line splitters behind my HU. What I did was took double sided foam tape and I stuck the box up ontop of the bracket in the dash slightly above the HU's rear end. For the splitters, there was enough room left in the back I just layed it there, no problems

I have the same car and can't get the cover off the climate controls. I have remove the 2 screws @ the bottom but it seems to be stuck @ the top. So much so that I feel like I could break it while trying to pry it loose ? Did you have this problem as well ? If not, how did you get yours off ?

The top corners have "clips" and will pop off. It helps to work one corner at a time. You can get under the top edge of the stereo to apply force closer to the clips and get them to pop off. Or use a wide non-marring prying tool from the side.

Very well done...As far as removing the radio bezel is concerned...I can get the bottom popped out, but the top sticks as if it was screwed in...any tricks?

i would like to change something you wrote.

for the step of removing the a/c radio panel do not just pull on it. get a flat head screwdriver, wrap the end in electrical tape so there is a good bit of padding then take the screw driver on each side where the clips are and wedge it under there and pop the clips free.

p.s. the reason for the electrical tape is that you don't scratch up your interior when doing this.

Actually this worked for me. I didn't need to use any tools. Work one corner at a time.

Great installation tutorial. One question: Is there some sort of aftermarket
'cover ' you can get that covers the extra slot under the new HU? I'd like to avoid the gaping hole in the dash if at all possible.

a well-equipped car audio place or online source should have a 'pocket' that could be put in there.

Thanks. I should have searched but I did not know it was called 'din pocket'. It looks like there are some issues with color matching on the ones available. If they have OEM available that would be the way to go.

i put my 2 boxes below the a/c controls on the sides...on the outside of where the ashtray/cig plug assembly is. it fits well, just use velcro or sticky tape to hold it...make sure you leave enough room so that the door mechanisms can move and the door doesn't get stuck.

Were these two red and blue/white? If so, what did you end up doing? I'm soldering mine together right now...

hi there, i was just doing this today for my 05 sti and after connecting all the wiring to the wiring adapter, i discovered that the original plug from the factory cd player doesn't fit with my wiring adapter?? i use the same part number wiring number as u guys.. any insight to this or do i need to modify the adapter?? for sure i check the pin and if i fit the plug upside down then it will fit except for the clip that is on the top, will not fit into the bottom side of the adapter.. please help

Can somebody post of picture of how to put the mounting brackets on your aftermarket HU? Do you have to drill your own holes into the HU?

any help would be greatly appreciated

You drill the holes, if needed, into the brackets - NOT into the HU. In my case the new HU had holes that lined up perfectly. I did have to drill holes in the brackets to fit the "pocket" that replaced the lower half of the stock radio.

Hope that helps. It's really quite easy.

Hope that helps. It's really quite easy.

If you have the correct "pocket" you will NOT need to drill holes into the bracket. Metra 98-8999 is the pocket that is a perfrect fit. Also, I've NEVER had to even drill holes in the radio brackets for ANY impreza that i've done, from '93- '06 with a multitude of radios.
